Quick View: I am not a fan of fast food, especially fast food desserts, but now and then I want to indulge. I kept seeing commercials for the new Arby's Cheescake Poppers and, last night I was feeling pretty awful and decided heck, I can afford to indulge a little. I asked my son to pick me up an order of the Poppers. I adore cheesecake so I expected to love these crispy little nuggets of cheesecake. Ugh. NOT!

About Arby's Cheescake Poppers

I am one who watches my fat intake all the time. Last night, I resisted the urge to look up the nutritional info on these Poppers and just enjoy them. Well...that wasn't quite how it went down. My son picked them up and handed me a greasy box (Like the one fries come in) with six little fried things in them. Hmm. Six. Not much but the taste would be worth it, I thought. The Poppers come with a little round cup of raspberry sauce which tastes quite good and was needed to mask the flavor of the Poppers.

These Poppers are supposed to have a graham cracker crust with cheesecake inside. They're deep fried and come hot (unless they have been sitting around for a while). They look like dog snacks, frankly. I took a bite and tasted...oil...and French fries. They must deep fry these things in the same oil as they do fries and everything else. They had a foody taste that wasn't anything like sweet cheesecake. Inside was a yellow substance that was not cakey at all. It was somewhat like liquid cheese with sugar added. Seriously, these things were so disappointing. The raspberry sauce saved them. I gave one to my son who tried it and said, "Ew. What the heck?" My dog got the last one. He said the same thing in his head I am sure.

Now, for the worst news. Six of these poppers are 270 calories. That isn't terrible for an occasional snack for me BUT they have 15 grams of fat, half of my daily intake! (6 grams are saturated and 1 gram is trans-fat.) There is nothing nutritional at all in these things. The raspberry sauce is just 60 calories and fat free but that's another 60 calories on top of the 270 and whole lotta sugar!

If you're a cheesecake lover or just in the mood for a quick snack, bypass these things. They taste like greasy mozzarella sticks on the outside and gooey sweet...something weird on the inside. And once you gobble down the six gum ball sized Poppers, your body has to deal with nearly 300 calories and 15 grams of fat. And you won't even be satisfied or full. RUN from these things and make a better choice. I am all for satisfying a craving now and then but it should be worth the calories and fat. These don't taste good and they aren't worth the cost in bad nutrition and in dollars (almost $3.00 here!).

My Viewpoint

I generally don't write about food but these new Arby's Cheescake Poppers are bound to catch people's attention like they did mine. I wanted you to know BEFORE you dropped the bucks on these things that you aren't getting a delectable, decadent snack. You're getting six overly sweet, fried globs of fat that won't fill you up and won't be worth the havoc they wreak on your poor arteries and waistlines. There are loads of good snacks out there. In my opinion, these won't last long on the Arby's menu. 1 star.

Too late!!! I just bought one, and was looking up the nutrition facts. (There was a crunchy crust on the outside, and my son's allergic to peanuts.) Nothing on the Arby's website, but reading the review above, I'm very disappointed with this item. I agree that they have a catchy marketing with these...
