Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment Jar 14 oz —

Yes, it is VERY good in treatment and prevention of diaper rash; but I still have doubts about its retail price. Its price difference from regular petroleum jelly (about 600% price difference) apparently comes from presence of lanolin (greasy organic molecule derived from the greasy coating of raw wool, precursor of vitamin D). However that might not be enough to justify the price difference because I have searched other lanolin and petroleum jelly containing products and there is still about 200%-300% price difference. Now you might say "it's not just presence, the ratio of lanolin to petroleum jelly might be higher in this" and you would be right. That's what disturbes me about this product: they have not provided the amount of lanolin in ingredient list, they just give the percentage of petroleum jelly and list lanolin (the main pricey ingredient) as "other ingredients".

So bottomline: It is absolutely doing what it is supposed to do, the way it is marketed made me feel tricked and sent me looking for a product that is cheaper and shows percentage of lanolin in it. And yes, it IS greasy and it is supposed to be, that's part of how it works.
