To the Point

Applegate Farms came to be in 1987.  I'm glad I eat their products.

A Closer View

We buy Smoked Turkey Breast made by Applegate Farms. A 7-ounce package costs $3.69. It has no nitrites, no gluten and is casein free. Casein is milk protein. Many people are lactose intolerant or don't feel well eating dairy thus they want to stay away form casein.

All that's in my product is turkey breast, water and salt. A 2-ounce portion has 50 calories; no fat; 30 mg of cholesterol; 360 mg of sodium; no carbohydrates; no fiber and 12 grams of protein.

We buy several packages at a time. These can be frozen for up to 6 months. Once opened the turkey should be eaten in a couple of days.

Applegate Smoked Turkey Breast is delicious. It has a clean taste and feel to it. This is not a deli product that you have to eat in a sandwich with mustard to cover up the not so nice taste than many inexpensive deli products have. I eat it right out of the package when I feel like I need some protein. I love it in salads. I can't imagine every eating a traditional turkey breast product from the deli; especially a prepackaged one. This is a personal preference and not a judgment of those who do.

The only negative is the packaging. It's pressure sealed with a reclosable top. I rarely can open this this correct way. In other words the correct way is to cut the top and then open it at the resealable line. It is so tight that most often I have to cut the whole package making me prefer not having to pay for the resealable aspect.

Good point about the resealable packs that can't be opened. :>
