With Apple's iPod classic coming in memory ranges of 80GB to160GB and the more recent 120GB, you might find yourself struggling with the decision of howmuch memory you really need.Because, howmuch do you really need? Even on the low end of a 80GB memory hard drive, the iPod will provide enough storage space to fill; more than you will ever be able to listen to. But hey, who uses the iPod as an mp3 player nowadays anyway? It's all about the visuals and free audio/video (not to mention purchasable) content, of which there is a never-ceasing, overwhelmingly large influx.
So unless you're looking to store some great full length HD movies and TV shows, as well as hours worth of video and audio podcasts and audiobooks, you shouldn't feel the need to own the capacious drive of a 160GB iPod Classic.
For others, the hassle of creating numerous music playlists and the constant re-synchronization of the device might be reason enough to opt for the larger device as it leaves you carefree once the data has been stored on the drive. And a growing music/audio and video library won't come with the headaches and worries of insufficient memory-space. If anything you'll be looking for material to fill the extra free GBs. If you don't need to worry about your budget and can afford it, then hey! Go right ahead. Save yourself the trouble of making space for new material.
Also these devices are hard drives! They can be used to store just about anything! So store any data, backups or documents on the drive and have it with you wherever you are, provided you don't already own an mp3 device which you use as your primary portable music device. It's a great external hard drive in its own right.
And if you're not satisfied with the availible selection of colours, go buy a chromatic, this is the classic.
