First, I've been an iPod user since the original 5 gig model. And I've been a PDA users since the Handspring Palm-based models.

As far as the iPod touch goes? Best. iPod. Ever. And now that Apple has the App Store to complement the music and videos available on the online iTunes Store...quite possibly the best PDA ever. Especially now that ereader.com has an ebook reader for this device...it never leaves my pocket at work or out on the go!

Obviously  the touchscreen interface is stunning and incredibly user friendly. Its beautiful, responsive, and utterly easy to use. The clearest, most video-friendly screen on a portable device short of the PSP...and the PSP is not touch-sensitive!

I actually owned a 160 GB iPod Classic and sold it to a friend of mine to purchase a 32 GB iPod touch as a replacement iPod, a portable internet appliance (built-in Wi-fi, email, web browsing, etc!) and a PDA. Do yourself a favor and play with the contacts, calendar, internet, photo album, audio/video playback and other functions at a local Apple Store or other demo-featuring store if you can to totally convince yourself...this item WILL replace your Palm-based PDA, and you will not miss it one iota.

The only way I would NOT recommend the touch is if you want to combine your iPod and your cell phone...in which case, get an iPhone!

If I didn't have to avoid combining the two to use my iPod at work, I'd already have an iPhone instead of my iPod touch. :) I'd go for one, if you don't mind being locked into AT&T's service plan! Otherwise, I know Apple's online store has refurbed 8 GB and 16 GB iPod touches for $199 and $299 respectively right now...great deal, considering a regular 8 GB nano costs $199, and its inferior to a touch!

Thanks for the great review!! Are you familiar at all with the iPhone? Would you recommend it?
