I have been anti-iPod for a very long time. I just never saw the appeal of Apple, Macs, iPods or anything having to do with Apple, Macs or iPods... until I saw the Touch.
When I first saw the iPhone, I fell in love, but my contract for a new phone isn't for another year. Enter the Touch.
The Touch is everything the iPhone is without the phone. There may be a few other missing bells and whistles, but overall the Touch encompasses everything the iPhone would without the cell coverage.
Memory: I purchased the 8G Touch and I still have memory on it. And that's with downloading several CDs worth of music, tons of photos from my computer and a few television shows that I like to watch over and over.
Wi-Fi: With my home Wi-Fi, I can log on without having to turn on my laptop and surf the web. It is slower than turning on my computer, but if you don't mind a longer than usual opening of websites, it's still terrific. There is a button on the main screen for you to go directly to iTunes as well as YouTube.
When you're not listening to music or surfing the web, you can view photos as well as watch television shows, movies and music videos with a "touch" of a finger.
Lack of Buttons: The "Touch" part comes in by pressing the pad of your finger to the screen. The only buttons on the Touch are the on/off switch at the top and the main menu button on the bottom; otherwise, you need to let your fingers do the walking.
The on/off button on the top is a bit of a pain. You have to hold the button down until the screen gives you the shut off prompt. If you just hold it down without waiting for the prompt, it will only shut off the screen, not the entire device.
Battery Life: The battery life is excellent. The best I've ever seen. I own two other MP3 players. One is charged with a regular AAA battery and the other is charged by plugging it into the wall. The battery powered MP3 player lasts a long time, but once the battery runs out, you must buy more. The MP3 player that is charged thru the wall runs out of juice after about 4 hours. I've run my Touch for eight hours at work and it still had plenty (appx. 1/3) power left.
Price: The price is a bit expensive (more than I usually pay for things such as these); however, after receipt, I found that it was money well worth spending. I can't put the thing down!
Overall: Overall, I think this is a great product. I've shown it to Apple/Mac/iPod people and they are all green with envy that they hadn't gotten it first. This is a fun, grade A product!
