For the longest time I could not understand what the IPod craze was all about. There was even a time when I thought it was just for kids. That was before I purchased one for my husband as a Christmas gift. Now, I don't know how we ever survived without it!
It is compact, easy to use, and offers a lot of bang for your buck. We have stored all of our CDs on one small machine that we can take anywhere. The overall sound quality is excellent. However, if you download music off of the Internet you can run into significant changes in music volume during playback. I purchased the 8GB and feel that the extra money was worth it. It holds over a weeks worth of music but we did not need to discriminate between songs. Every song we own is there, just in case you want to hear a classic Bon Jovi tune from the 80s.
I strongly recommend purchasing accessories to compliment your listening. I am not the type of person who walks around with headphones on all day. However, I do hook the IPod up to our home stereo and listen while cleaning the house. With the FM tuner I can create one play-list that will last an entire road-trip and never have to worry about changing a CD while traveling on the highway. The portable speaker allows us to listen to the music away from home.
If you don't have an IPod, you don't know what your missing.
