Apple - iPod Nano 3rd Generation Media Player Review Summary

There are so many reasons why people love the iPod Nano third generation model. It's compact, lightweight design make the iPod Nano easy to carry around. There is ample space for all sorts of media files, including movies, TV shows and - as always - music. A common complaint among owners of the iPod Nano is that the earbuds to the headphones do not fit comfortably. Additionally, most people wish they had more storage space on their iPod. Upgrading to a larger size - but also a more bulky - iPod is a simple solution to that problem, though. Continue reading to find out what all of our reviewers say about the iPod Nano!

I love this iPod, and I always hated lugging around a bunch of cd's in my truck and not a lot of space to put them in. Plus this can go anywhere with me. I reccomend this to everyone! I used to burn cd's because you can fit way more on them than the usual cd's you just buy from the store. This is small,... review »

I bought a reconditioned one since I got it $50 cheaper and so far so good. Mine is the 4g and still have not filled the little thing up. Now I don't have to take my CDs with me on trips since I can just plug it into the car stereo. It's a great device if you get poor radio reception or in an area that... review »

This is my first iPod/Apple purchase although not my first MP3 player.  I really am impressed that such a small item can hold almost 2000 songs and my Audible.com books too!  As a middle aged person, I have a hard time reading the labels without my reading glasses even when large type is selected in iTunes setup.  I was also surprised that there wasn't any way to attach a lanyard or other way to carry it; welcome to the world of optional assessories which in my opinion are too expensive for what they are.  I did get the FM transmitter (be sure to get one that works across the entire FM bandwidth)... review »

I got my iPod Nano as an early Christmas gift.  I commute everyday and wanted to listen to music and watch tv shows/movies on my train.  I love how small the iPod is.  The screen is tiny, yet the picture quality is awesome.  I've never owned an iPod and am extremely impressed with it thus far.  I like the trivia game that is pre-loaded on it and I can play that and listen to my music at the same time.  iTunes is very user friendly as well, which makes it easy to find what I want and put it on my iPod.  I found a nice clear plastic (hard) case to protect my iPod because I don't want to scratch...

I already own an Ipod 3G 40 GB. It was an anniversary gift and I love it.  But this year my husband upgraded my car radio with an ipod compatible radio but my older ipod wont work with it.

So for under 200 bucks I bought this one, my ipod lite.  I got it and its super cute. I got blue. LOVE IT! It holds 2000 songs; perfect for my car needs.

I connected it to Itunes, manually synched my songs and plugged it into my car. This one rocks. So small but clear sound and crisp screen.

I can use this one when at the grocery store or in the car. It works great with my radio.

And my other ipod is my...

This is a great product!! I recieved it for Christmas and I am very very pleased! It has great sound, i love the earbuds, great picture, and many features!! I have an 8G and I can play games, watch tv shows, podcasts, movies, of course listen to music,  and many more. I like the new split screen that shows all of the albums and previews things. Alos, you don't have to get everything from itunes. I upload songs from cd's, other websites, and my computer all the time. I hardly use itunes unless I get games, movies, tv shows podcasts, or something is free. Ipod's are great and in my opinion it doesn't... review »

I chose a nice 8g iPod nano in green. Named it Granny's Apple! This little gadget is the first thing I grab before heading out to shop. I can listen or watch many free podcasts that I've downloaded which I thoroughly enjoy! Or I can have it ready with a sync to my music files. I always carry my grandchildren's pictures on it to share with anyone! Very versatile! I only wish there were a plug to cover the contacts when it's not being plugged into the USB port for syncing or recharging.

I first started with the 2nd generation Nano but wanted something I could watch videos on. When the 3rd generation came out for the same price I ordered one. I just love it!! The music is the same great quality but now you get the cover art of the CD's and the ability to watch TV shows, movies and music videos. Itunes offers free movie and tv show downloads along with audio books and music. This is a great little player super thin, great quality...you can't go wrong.

I got my 3rd Generation Nano brand-new. I still haven't filled it up. I think the screen is an OK size to watch shows on. If I have to go to the mechanic or wait for my husband at the doctor's I like watching a show. Sound quality is good and you can store photos on it.

The earbuds Apple included are hard plastic and they fell out of my ears all the time. I bought some Skullcandy ones with the soft buds. Not a big-money investment.

Don't plug it into the USB while you have a song on pause. It will freeze the iPod and you have to go online to figure out how to unfreeze it. Don't freak out - it's...

I held out for as long as I could possibly could before I caved into this "apple" craze and now my new ipod nano 3rd gen. is so wonderful that I take it everywhere, and  even dress it cute!

Vaguely reminded of the "cabbage patch" doll crisis, I stood in line two years ago to snatch an 8 gig ipod video for my daughter; dutifully purchased all the goodies for it, and happily gave it to for Christmas, laughing to myself that her older brother would be the one to teach her to use it.  Even remarked to my husband, "How could ANYBODY fill up thousands of songs on that little thing and somehow...

The best thing to ever happen to me! Truly. It's a great size and I love the color. It's easy to work and works well. THe only bad thing is the crashes it has every once in awhile. But I can deal with it.

The 3rd generation Nano iPod certainly lived up to expectations of Apple consumers. As an owner of an older model, I could certainly see the improvements, video capabilities being one of them. The addition of download-able games was an intriguing and--no doubt, profiting move. As with any other gadget, there are a few glitches that I could do without. When plugging in my iPod to synchronize, it has a tendency to freeze and has required a reboot on occasion. I would not expect this issue with any other iPod nano because I have the suspicion that this malfunction was caused from the freezing temperatures... review »

Forget those days of CD visor holders and cassette tapes in your consol. And if you are as picky as I am about music, you'll never look back. It's like having a radio station specially tuned to you. I love my IPOD Nano. I have portable speakers for it at work, and an adapter in the car so I can listen to it always. The kids even have thier own playlists so we can take turns. The IPOD nano is compact yet durable. The sound quality is great. I even have a special dock so I can watch movies from my ipod, on my TV.  Just ditch the earbuds and buy a pair of skull candy's and you are set. The ipod... review »

I was surprised at the video quality as it is very good for such a small screen, great for travelling or working out. I've had this ipod nano for a year now and I'm really happy with it. It stores lots of songs, plays movies and TV shows from itunes.  It also charges on your computers usb cable.  It connects automatically to itunes and also automatically syncs and downloads any new songs/ videos. A great little device to ease the long boring car rides or plane trips.

Okay so I finally crossed over into the world of Apple. I have been a hold out because of itunes to be honest. So what do I think two weeks into being the new owner of a 3rd generation iPod Nano in a sharp green color? I love it, my goal was to have a music player that would hold my collection of cd's which were about 100 or so.  I am not much of a music person so ease of use was just as important as how many songs it would hold and to be honest sound.  The nano scored high marks on all accounts.  A helpful hint, it is easier to download your cd's directly into the software rather than importing...
