My husband had been nagging me for months to go buy a new cell phone.  Mine worked just fine although the battery was starting to need charging every 3 days but I knew this and expected it.  I finally gave in and went to the store to listen to all the hype from a salesman.  After hearing of the new data plans and rates being over $100 a month for cell phone charges and the data plan, I calmly stated that I'd rather have a new iphone.  The salesman nodded and said that would do everything I needed and only $20 a month tor text messages/data.  Basically, you are paying more for a phone but in the long run, I'll come out ahead.

Features & Options

The Apple iPhone is about the same size as the Razor phone.  It is sleek and slim.  The screen can be viewed by pressing the center control button located at the bottome of the phone.  This brings up your screensaver.  The phone is locked at this point and you just need to slide the bar over to the right to unlock it.  This will bring up your menu.

You can arrange your menu any way you please.  Just drag and drop the icons and move them into the position you want them.  You can have up to four icons placed on the bottom bar for easy access.  The available options are:

Calculator, Clock, Calendar, Notes (just like notepad on your computer), Settings, and more (listed below)!

Maps:  This option will show you exactly where you are.  You can manover it to see where you are going.  I was told that updates would be coming soon that will make this feature work more like a GPS system.

YouTube:  Sit back and enjoy videos from UTube.  You can browse the site just as you would on your computer.

ITunes:  You can transfer your ITunes from your computer to your phone at initial setup.  I have yet to use this feature.

IPod:  Allows you to download music.  I have not used this feature either.

Weather:  I love this feature.  I can get up to date weather forcasts at any time.  You can also call up the weather forcast in other cities.  This is great for traveling!

Photos:  With 8GB of memory, you can store lots of photos here.  I currently have over 120 photos on my phone.

Camera:  I have been impressed with the quality of photos this camera takes.  They are clear and crisp with a good color balance true to the subject matter.  My only complaint here is there is no zoom to the camera.

Stocks:  You can get up to date stock market news at the touch of the icon.  If you are into trading, this is a nice feature.

Safari:  Allows you to surf the internet, it is a browser.

Text:  Send text messages to friends and family.

Mail:  Set to any email address you want to have your email available whenever and wherever you go.

Phone:  This icon brings up several other features:

Favorites:  Load up your most used contacts here and they are available at the touch of a button.

Contacts:  Large directory for all of your friends, family and business contacts.  You have room for phone numbers both land and cell and email addresses.

My Thoughts

I love this phone.  My husband had to go get one also because he played with mine so much and couldn't stand not having his own (lol).  The Apple iPhone is easy to set up.  It comes with a cradle and cable that hooks into your USB port on your computer.  Go to apple.com and itunes for setup.  It only takes a few minutes for your phone to retrieve the information and it is then ready to use.  The cradle is also used for charging your phone.  While setting up your new iPhone you can choose to transfer all your yahoo chat contacts to your phone.   This is an option and nice if you talk on the phone to your contacts also.

I've been using my new iphone for about a month now and have not had any real issues with it other than a few failed calls.  I'm not sure what caused this but a simple rebooting the phone took care of this problem.  I haven't had any problems with connections to the internet except in the building where I work.  The wireless internet sometimes conflicts. As soon as I step outside the door, the problem is solved.  This isn't a problem for me because I only need my iPhone at work for phone calls.

The Apple iPhone seems to be a durable little gadget.  It has loads of features and I'm still learning more about them every day.  I have dropped the phone a couple of times by accident and it has not caused any harm.

There are two things that I wish were included that are not.  The camera does not have a zoom feature.  This would be a great addtion as well is video capability.  All in all, for $399, this phone is just like a mini computer.  I love it!

Nice review, even though like kid-kansas, I just use mine to call people and listen to voice mail. I'm a dinosaur, at least about phones.

I never got into the fancy phones, I just use mine to talk on and listen to music...lol Sounds like a great phone for those that use all the other features though ;) Ron
