Update:
The iPhone 2.0 software addressed the Exchange email issues and the 3rd party app capabilities bring this phone to be a great enterprise product.
The coolness factor of this phone trumps all others. If all you do is phone and email/txt msging, the Blackberry might be a better choice, but if you want to do web browsing, check sports scores, play music, play movies, etc., then this is a terrific product and the best (by far) I have seen. The only better product is the iPhone 3G which gives you faster browsing speeds.
Previous review:
This is a fantastic consumer product for the person that just needs basic email, MP3 and phone capability. It is not, however, a great fit for a business traveler who needs access to company Exchange server for email, contacts, calendar, etc. The fact that you MUST use AT&T as your carrier limits those of us who's company only supports certain carriers as well. You can "unlock" the phone to use on other GSM based networks (T-Mobile, etc.), but this process is not for your everyday Joe and may lead to problems in the future as new versions of the phone's software are released. For the consumer, I think it is the coolest phone/MP3 device out there right now. For the business person, it is just not quite ready yet. There are companies scrambling to write 3rd party apps to solve the Exchange integration issues which will help, so there is hope for future business use.
