Apple - iPhone 3G Cell Phone Review

iphone 3G is a great mobile phone, an ipod, a gps device a mobile internet browser and so much more all in one very elegant and functional package.  Yes, it has its limitations and irritations, just as any device does, but this is a device that has been well thought out and extremely well executed. 

I have owned Palm Treo's, Blackberries & Windows mobile devices and none could even hold the jock of the iphone to use an old sports phrase.  Windows Mobile is a dog of an operating system, that is bulky feeling, slow, and anything but elegant.  The Palm operating system is a much better, smoother operating, more intuitive and easy to use system and the thumb keyboard on Treo devices and Blackberries are much more functional than the clunky keyboards on even the best of the Windows Mobile Devices.  And even when the Palm Treo form factor is the Mobile Phone, the Windows Mobile OS is so buggy and non-intuitive and so hard to manuever around in compared to the palm os devices as to make it shameful.

But the Apple iphone touch screen is intuitive, easy to learn and tends to do exactly what you expect and want (and many times things you neither expect nor would have dreamed of).  Unlike the other devices it has an elegance and balance to it that is the clear sign of extensive testing, design vision and brilliance in execution.  It is well thought out, clearly the work of people who have actually used the device and has numerous thoughtful touches that come from a passion for getting it right.

Sure it would be nice to have a removeable battery and wouldn't removable storage using industry standard form factors be great.  But it charges fast, the 16 Gig model will store thousands of songs and dozens of Apps (and don't forget the apps - An App Store that encourages and rewards innovation and improvement).
