Apple - iPhone 3G Cell Phone —

I am really torn on my Apple iPhone. It's very cool, and the web interface, search functionality, and all of the applications are great. But. I really don't like that I have to charge it almost every day.  On the road/traveling that becomes quite a pain. I converted to an iPhone from a Blackberry, and honestly, it was WAAY better in terms of holding the charge.  In fairness, I suppose I didn't have fun dice games on my BB.  In addition, even though I am getting used to typing on the iphone, I still greatly prefer texting on the Blackberry. Lastly, I don't think that the phone service is nearly as good, but that is probably more of a function of it being AT&T instead of Verizon (much better network).

However, if 'putting your money where your mouth is' is actually a good indicator of how strongly you recommend something, I guess I'd better up my rating. I lost my almost new iPhone in a taxi and I waited almost a full week debating whether to pony up for a new one.  In the end, I went out and bought another iphone and since I already had the phone package, I did not get the subsidized price and had to pay full, FULL price.  Ouch.

In the end, if you are the kind of person who is diligent about charging your phone and if you really like the applications and the 'cool' factor, the iPhone is for you.   If, on the other hand, you just need a hard working smartphone for business email/texting, I would not get swept up in the iPhone hype and think about sticking with the Blackberry.

You should try the Sprint Instinct. There are many advantages including the adding the simply everything plan and the best EVDO network. consider these comparisons
Network five times the coverage of AT&T's current 3G network (based on square miles). covers twice the number of cities and airports compared to AT&T's 3G network.
Features: The Instinct offers features that iPhone 3G doesn't
Speech-activated search based on where you are (pizza, bookstore, coffeeshop ...)
Live TV: 25 channels of live TV, on-demand clips and full-length episodes
Exclusive applications and content, including NFL Mobile and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile
Spoken turn-by-turn directions
And this is a biggie: The instinct has a removable battery with a spare. With iPhone, users have to take it back to a service provider.
Value: Sprint is a much better value
The cost of the Instinct is $129 vs. $199 for the lowest cost iPhone 3G -- a $70 savings. Sprint's service plans across the board are dramatically more cost effective if you compare. Customers can save from $1,400 to almost $2,000 over a two-year contract period
