The family computer (a six year old Dell desktop) refused to boot. Microsoft Windows XP decided to take a permanent holiday. My family was starting to grumble about the lack of a computer in our home. What was I to do?

A year ago I started using a Apple MacBook Pro at work and had bid Microsoft Windows adieu. This seemed like the perfect moment to switch over to a Mac at home. I considered the Apple Mac Mini since I did have the screen, keyboard and mouse from the Dell, but evaluating what hardware (processor, video card, web cam, speakers, hard drive, RAM, etc.) you got with the iMac, I decided...

Introduction

I have been using Windows machines for 20 years.  I worked at Microsoft in 1992 when they launched Windows 3.1.  So, as you can see, I don't come by my decision to switch to a Mac lightly.  So why did I do it?  First, I have had it with the system crashes that come out of now where.  And like many people, I am drawn to the clean design of the Apple computers.  And now of course that I have been using the iMac 24" for the past few months I now see what I was often told.  The software itself (Leopard) is more stable and faster than Windows.

The Back Story

So I am a sucker for...

I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who wants a great out-of-the-box, easy to use, reliable option that is also great looking. I have had my computer for a couple of years now and it's the best computer I've ever purchased. It doesn't become obsolete the minute I take it out of the box and (knock on wood) I've not had any problems with it since. The screen is big and very beautiful. I love looking at pictures and creating movies and slide shows with my daughter's pictures for family and friends to watch. It's easy to do, even for this computer-challenged user. Give it a try...the...

I layout catalogs, covers and magazines for a living and this iMac is a god-send! Its processor is fast and it handles my heavy graphics software with ease - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign... plus the iMovie and iPhoto accessories that come with it are a blast. The 24" monitor is better than the one I have at work - I wish I could work on this computer all the time!

I am a Mac addict.  But, I was not ALWAYS a Mac Addict.  Mac Addicts are not BORN, Mac Addicts are MADE.

After buying a couple of "PC's" and struggling with software conflicts and hardware conflicts, I bought my first Mac, an 8500, and I have never looked back.

If you want to putz and futz with your "system", maybe you want a Windows OS machine.  BUT, if you want to get your work done, and if you want to have FUN and do cool things with EASE, then you NEED a Mac!  No ifs, ands or buts.  It's simple.

Don't be fooled by people who tell you Macs just "look good"...those are desperate words,...

I have been a PC user for the past 30 years, starting with dos!!!! After my daughter purchase a mac pro for college, I was surprised with what she could do and with such ease. I was tired of having viruses and slow working "high speed" internet, and my daughter said, lets go to Apple! Within 30 minutes I was the new owner of a Apple iMac 24" and just love it! I look forward to getting on the internet in the morning with my coffee and never fear viruses anymore! Technical support is also a dream! The most friendly, tech sound people I have ever dealt with! We then went out and purchased a mac book...

I know the have been some discouraged users regarding the glossy screen.  Where that does pose some issues it is quickly overshadowed by the wealth of features and horsepower packed into this beast.  The iMac has an enormous 24 inch screen and enough RAM and disk space to run the most power hungry graphics applications.  As a bonus I can run Windows XP without issue for those 3D applications that are only available for Windows.  This is an excellent solution for those not quite willing to put in the extra $$ for the Mac Pro.

From the minute I took this baby out of the box I was in love! It was a low price desktop, easy to set up, easy to use, and amazing resolution! I was not a mac user before purchasing this and I will never go back to using a PC. This is like having you own mini plasma tv set up right on your desk. The picture quality is fantastic and the music sounds great too! This is the best thing Mac has done since the iPod!

I purchased my new 24 inch screen iMac in the fall of 08.  The shopping experience was first rate.  I arranged an appointment time with a sales person and proceeded to tell him what I use my computer for.  We found the exact model I wanted, and discovered it was available online for $150 cheaper.

When I plugged it in at home, it found my internet connection on its own and basically did full set up nearly hands free. Also, I have the ability to partician EASILY to use part of the mac as a windows OS if I wanted to.  Next, I use an Elgato Eyetv link with it to get all my cable stations, plus...

As a computer user since 1981 and an Apple user since 1984 this was my first choice for a replacement Apple computer. Open the box, plug it in, and it's ready with little fuss! Transfer from an older Mac with ease and a cable. There's no software to install. The Imac 24" monitor was a fine choice for me.

Practical use and intuitive action make it great. The extra cost of this iMac vs. and Intel/Microsoft only computer is no problem. This iMac comes with Windows capability but I have little need for it. The O.S. is seamless and solid!

The 24" monitor was a splurge I soon appreciated. With poor...

When my husband first tried to convince me to buy this outrageously huge desktop, I have to admit that I was skeptical due to the size and cost.  We already had two Mac laptops, so I didn't think this was necessary.  But, since we didn't have a TV, this looked like a good way to buy both at the same time.  It has an HD flat screen, so we end up watching movies and TV shows online, and it is fantastic.  This computer is very fast, and it has great programs.  I LOVE the size of the screen now.  It makes it so easy to  do anything online...even more than one thing online.  Because the screen...

The 24" iMac is a beauty of a desktop.  Its sleek design and aluminum accents make it a feast for the eyes.  However, it is one powerful system.  I originally purchased mine as a replacement for my broken PC.  I had been wanting to make the switch to Mac for quite some time.  I will never go back now.

I use the iMac for Photoshop and Graphics work mainly but it also stores my music as well. I am completely in love with this system.  The only thing I wish I could change would be to have a matte screen instead of a glossy.  I have found it difficult to correctly calibrate the monitor.  With...

Because I am fairly computer illiterate, I have always used Macs. They are simple, intuitive and are simply immune to viruses and the breakdowns that plage PCs. My new iMac is no different.

Even though it's a newer system than on my Mac Book, it's easy enough to figure out. I've never owned a desktop (I bought this for a new internet-based business), and the screen is absolutely beautiful. It's also SO compact — no towers or anything external to take up space.

Yes, there's a problems with apps that don't like Mac, but that's their problem, not this computer's. I just work my way around that or...

We use a 24" iMac in our living room as a family computer/"TV".  We have it connected to a home file server where a number of kid friendly movies and TV episodes are stored as separate files.  With the remote control that came with the computer and "Front Row" software built into the iMac, our kids can easily browse and watch videos they want (during the time they are allowed to watch).

We also use it often throughout the day for looking up something on the Internet, searching, using Google Map for direction, etc.

When not in use, the screen saver showing photos from our various vacations and...

Up until recently, I had never even touched a Mac computer. All I've ever know were Dell's. However, for my birthday, my fiance bought me a 24" iMac computer. It is amazing. The graphics are awesome. It comes with some incredible software. For instance, Garage Band... allows you to record your own songs/voice/music. And iMovie, which allows you to create and edit your own movies. iPhoto, which keeps all of your photos organized by date, location, event.. it is incredible. The best thing about a Mac, for me, is that they are virus free. I don't ever have to worry about whether or not my computer...
