Apple iMac 24" Desktop Computer Review

As a computer user since 1981 and an Apple user since 1984 this was my first choice for a replacement Apple computer. Open the box, plug it in, and it's ready with little fuss! Transfer from an older Mac with ease and a cable. There's no software to install. The Imac 24" monitor was a fine choice for me.

Practical use and intuitive action make it great. The extra cost of this iMac vs. and Intel/Microsoft only computer is no problem. This iMac comes with Windows capability but I have little need for it. The O.S. is seamless and solid!

The 24" monitor was a splurge I soon appreciated. With poor vision on my part I found the larger screen easy to use and appreciate for all my computer and internet needs as well as for viewing online and offline DVDs. Added speakers (outside source) improved the audio and reduced cabinet vibration. I found it hard to see how all of the computer fit into one single panel.

In limited complaint, the Mac OS is sometimes stubborn in it's terminology and order of preference. This is still many times better than the Windows/DOS base systems. The Apple Mighty Mouse wired mouse should ave been readily offered as wireless as well as for the keyboard. I was also hurt by the loss of Appleworks support with little notice or carryover.

There is little lack of applications for this computer and many great items are freeware or low cost shareware. A cable broadband connection makes my computer sing. The processor speed makes it smoother. There is no slow down with multitasking operations and heavy duty loads with audio, video, image and download needs.

There are no regrets and I urge the potential computer buyer to test and ry Apple systems and evaluate the gains (great) vs. the losses that usually occur because of a need to stay with other non-Mac systems and programs. The potential is there to bridge the gap to those in need and not shy. For added protection, I have the Apple added warranty but I don't anticipate needing it!
