I own a macbook pro (mbp) laptop. The laptop gets pretty hot when it is sitting on my lap so I wanted to try out a wireless keyboard and mouse combination. Being a big fan of bluetooth accessories, I picked up a wireless mighty mouse and keyboard. Well let's say that I was able to instantly pick up a mighty mouse but had to wait for a while to receive the keyboard. I ordered the keyboard on August 19, 2007 and received it on October 1, 2007. This doesn't seem to be an issue now though; the apple website says they ship in 3-5 days.
The keyboard is exactly the same size as the keyboard that comes on my 15" mbp. There are a couple of differences though: the keys are white, there are spaces between the keys. On the mbp the edges of the keys are silver and have a bevel on them, on the wireless keyboard there is no bevel and the key edge is at a right angle to the face. I only mention this because at first glance I thought the keys were smaller than on my laptop (this would have been a comfort issue). The other feature that is different is that the keys are not backlit. One of the really cool features of the mbp is the backlit keyboard.. in darkness you can still see the letters. I know this sounds a little picky, but I've gotten accustomed to the feature.
The setup of the keyboard was brainless, like most intra-apple product pairings. The only thing extra (unusual) was a software update (I'm running 10.4.10) that enabled keyboard battery level and new function key mappings.
I'm currently using this as a desktop keyboard for when I'm at home, but will probably start taking it on the road with me. It is small enough to be a travel keyboard but I don't know how well it will fare with the banging around that happens during transport. It would be nice if there were some sort of tight case for it and the mouse.
I enjoy using the keyboard while I'm at home.. it is very responsive (no lag), feels good to the fingers and sits nicely on my lap. No buyer's remorse here.
p.s. If you need a 10 key number pad, don't purchase this keyboard.. get the wired one instead.
