Best I phone case out there.

5

I spent more money on a handful of different cases than it would've cost to just buy this durable case in the first place. I was afraid with sticking my phone in my pocket that this case would be too bulky. It took some adjustments when I first put it on my phone but now I don't know what i'd do without it. I have dropped my phone multiple times just for it to bounce and land safely. I have had my same case for over a year and it is in the same condition as when I bought it. I am very hard on my phone so this says a lot for this case.

I can that without a doubt, this is the best case I have ever used for my iphone. This case has never ever failed me! I use this all the time and recommend it to everyone with an iphone! I have dropped my phone so many times with this case and NOTHING has ever happened to it. No scratch, no shattering, no crack, NOTHING.

The otterbox series of cases are famous for its build quality and protection for the phones that are very easy to break. Back when I had a n iphone 3g, this box protected it from all types of doom. There was no gorilla class back then and the screen would scratch very easily. The screen protection it comes with eliminates that problem, but it does lower the screen resolution a bit. I also found that the touch responsiveness was sightly off key with the screen protector on. Now let's go on to the case itself. This case is HUGE and massive. It will surely leave a big bulge in your pocket or in my case, not fit in your pocket at all. Not to mention that the older cases were not a attractive as the new otterboxes. The plus point thoug is that is will protect your iphone from just about anything. I've thrown mine across the room and it still remained in tact with not forms of damage. If you have an iphone 3G, this case is a must buy!

After reaching (endlessly it seems) to find a case that would allow my 5 year old to play games on my phone without me worrying should he drop it, I settled on the Otterbox Defender. Once I got over the shock of the price, I ordered one. My phone has now survived at least two drops from waist height (my waist, not my 5 year old's) onto a hard ceramic tile floor with nary a scratch. I love that I the case does not have to be removed to access the ports, and that there are little silicone plugs that fit into the ports when not in use. We live in a very sandy area, and this gives me peace of mind that my phone will last. There are two negatives to this case, though. First, it is difficult to remove. The way that it fits together makes me wish I had a third hand when I am trying to take it off. I'm always concerned that I will drop it as I wrestle off the hard plastic portion of the case, so always remove it over a soft surface. Fortunately, it does not need to be removed often, only to remove the SIM card or for a really deep cleaning. Second, I the screen protector gets "bubbles" under it from time to time. These are unattractive and annoying, and require removing the case to remove. Despite this, the Otterbox Defender would still be my hands-down choice for durability.

The Otterbox Defender case for my iPhone was highly recommended by the Apple salesman that I dealt with. Because there are no warranties that can be purchased for the iPhone I went with his recommendation to protect my investment. This case definitely does protect the iPhone! It is a three piece case that is not easy to put on or remove. I have an alarm clock/docking station for my iPhone, but the Otterbox Defender case is too bulky to leave on when docking my phone. It has to be removed which, as stated earlier, is not very easy. It does help you get a better grip on the iPhone, but I have long hair so my hair often sticks to the case which can be painful. The plastic that covers the face of the iPhone tends to trap air bubbles under it which makes the screen less touch-sensitive, and lint/grime gets trapped in the corners of the screen. Bottom line, it is very sturdy and protects well, but that's where the benefits end.

Sturdy Case

I have a tendency to drop and throw my phones around, so when I got the iPhone, I knew that I needed a case to protect it. I started looking at the Otterboxes and immediately knew that this would be the case for me. The biggest complaint that most people have about the otterbox is that it's so bulky. When I put it on my phone, the bulk actually didn't bother me. It's about the size of a normal cellphone. Now if you bought the iPhone because of it's sleekness, then this isn't the case for you. After I got the case on, I realized that I have bubbles underneath the screen, so I tried to get the case off to get them out. That case is a pain to get off! So once it's on, don't try to take it off. Way too hard! I still have the bubbles under the screen, but they're not too bothersome. They don't look the prettiest though. Also, my earrings scratched up the screen pretty quickly. They could definitley make the screen more scratch resistent. The case doesn't seem to hinder anything that I would do on the phone. All my functions work perfectly.

Otterbox Defender - the security to drop!

AT&T Sells this for (i think) a crazy high price.  When i got my first iPhone, everyone was telling me to spend the extra 50 and get the otterbox, 'its an investment but its so worth it'.  I searched on amazon and found it at a quarter of the price so i went in for it expecting it to just be a flimsy case that wouldn't help at all. I got it, put it on and for me (i have small hands) it was a hassle at first.  It makes the phone SO big. I didnt really like it for the first few days, until i dropped my phone.  I previously dropped my phone (without otterbox) from about a foot and a half, to two feet of the ground (carpeted) and i got a little knick in it.  That bummed me out.  This time when i dropped it it was the same distance, with the otterbox, on my hardwood floor.  It landed on its back (which is better protected by the otterbox, thank god) and didnt bounce, it just kind of landed and stayed in that very spot. I picked it up took the case off, examined it and there was no new problem.  I started liking it at that time.  Its a little heavier, its a little bigger, but i think it gives more protection.  A friend of mine will purposely drop his phone from varying heights JUST BECAUSE he has the otterbox and he trusts it enough.  I'm not that crazy, but i do think its a great little cushion for those accidental drops.   The rubber-like feel also keeps a good grip on it while holding, and im sure if you have a stand for viewing your videos on the iphone (the regular stand that doesn't have a problem with widths) it would grip there better too.   I hope this review helps!  I gave it 4 of 5 stars because i do still think its a little bulky for me, and i have to peel it off to clean my phone properly (otherwise the tiny bits of screen that get covered up creates a little line i dont like) but you'll have that with any rubber-like case.
