Apple MacBook Pro —

Just thinking about switching to the Mac operating system from Windows made me really apprehensive.  After my parents bought one for me for Christmas 2008, I tried it out and extremely impressed.
I love my MacBook Pro's advanced features.  I was so impressed with its sleek, silver and black appearance, its easy-to-type keyboard, the light-adjusting LCD screen, its ability to drag photos from program to program, the impressive display wallpaper images, and its great built-in programs like iChat (I can video chat with the built-in camera!), PhotoBooth, iMovie, and GarageBand.
The only thing I miss about the Windows operating system is the familiarity in programs like Microsoft Office (word, powerpoint, and publisher).
All in all, I'm very glad I made the switch to Mac.

You CAN get Office for the Mac!

The programs are identical to the Windows versions, and 100% compatible. The Office 2008 edition for Mac (Home/Office edition) is currently on sale at Apple Stores for $98. I will say, however, that the 2008 edition gets some pretty negative reviews for being bloated, slow and crash-prone (I guess that's what you get for introducing Microsoft into the Apple world!). What I did was buy the Office 2004 version for Mac -- you can find them around, cheap -- and it works great.

Another alternative is NeoOffice (http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php), which is a full, open-source (i.e., free, downloadable) office suite for the Mac. It is fantastic -- and also fully compatible with Microsoft Office programs.

There really are no compromises left when it comes to switching to Apple.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the Mac. I used to have one (an old one), and I liked it.
