Apple Mac Pro Desktop Computer Review Summary

Apple Macintosh users are the most loyal and fanatical fans a technology company could ask for. Could the Apple Mac Pro Desktop Computer be one of the reasons why? Accordingly, our community of loyal Apple users laud the desktop; one reviewer stated: “Purchased two months old off of eBay, this machine has been flawless. Currently runs Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit), each operating system on its own hard drive, and runs them both very well.” The sturdy Mac Pro Desktop Computer is built around the Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” server-class processor @ 2.8GHz, is shipped with Apple’s much lauded MacOS X 10.5 Operating System, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB, up to 32.0GB of DDR2 RAM, DVD-ROM drive, FireWire 800 ports, and ultra-fast 15,000-rpm SAS hard drives. Our reviewers enthusiastically recommend this sleekly-styled and powerful desktop computer. Out of the Box

We took delivery of a 2.0 Ghz system -- the logic being that the $300 saving here (over the standard 2.66 GHz configuration) could be put toward the better ATi X1900 video card. But more on that later.

The fundamental difference with this machine is, of course, the new Xeon 5100 processors. These are dual-core designs, meaning that they have two processor cores per chip. Apple shoehorns two of these into the Mac Pro for a total of four processor cores per machine. Each processor has 4MB of shared cache (you can feel your renders speeding up already, can't you?) and each one sits...

The Mac Pro (Early 2008) machine I have is quad-core (downgraded from the standard 8 core beast). Purchased two months old off of eBay, this machine has been flawless. Currently runs Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit), each operating system on its own hard drive, and runs them both very well. Very fast at all things Mac and Windows, whisper-quiet, but built like a tank (it weighs 70 lbs!). In the Mac hardware world, this thing is the top of the line.

Although it is relatively expensive initially ($2300 for the downgraded quad core version I got, although I paid...

I have MacPro- 2 dual-core Xeon 2.66 MHz, 4 GB Ram, 250 GB HD.

I have had for about 3 months and have not wanted to go back to a PC or Windows.

It's truely easy to use and awesome performance.

It was a little costly, especially getting the 23" CinemaView HD monitor, but I don't plan on having to upgrade for quite a few years. Yet, it offers the expandability if needed.

It is definitely manufactured with very haigh quality. Even the package is simple, yet extremely effective.

I'm still running Tiger but will be taking advantage of Leopard very soon.

I also like the idea that , should I ever need to,...

It is so easy to use. When my husband brought it home I was scared but now I prefer it to my work PC. I use it for email. And I also use it to fix and edit my photos. I took a mac class and the people who work at the apple store don't treat you like an idiot if you go in and ask a question!
