Durability 2008-2012 and still my main computer, says it all, I think. Design Buggatti with German lm Performance 8 core dual intel Xeon 3,2 MHz, Nvidia 8800 GT 512 MB 2 dual link DVI ports, 10 GB RAM, 10 TB of HD (4 bay x 2 TB + 2 TB in additional DVD tray), OWC 286 GB SSD Extreme SATA 6 (upgrade), 2 x 30" Apple Cinema HD Display, 2 USB 3.0 ports (upgrade)... Since Mid 2008 and still takes everything head on... The best Computer I have ever bought (but neither the most expensive nor the most nominally powerful either).

The Mac Pro is the most powerful of all Macs.

5

As the title says, the Mac Pro is the most powerful Mac. It beats the iMac, the MacBook, and the Macbook Pro. Why? It's because the Mac Pro allows up to two processor chips, or CPUs. This means you get twice the processing power (compared to only one CPU). Each CPU also has multiple cores for processing. Two CPU chips and multiple cores equal faster processing, better performance, better gaming, and more. Additionally, the great thing about the Mac Pro is that it is also the most customizable out of all Macs. You can add as much memory (RAM) as you want or need, you can add additional graphics cards, and you can add up to four internal hard drives, which means you can have many terabytes of storage! Another thing I love about the Mac Pro is that you can have up to two DVD/CD drives. This is especially useful when you're duplicating or burning DVDs, and you can directly copy from one to another without an additional or separate drive.

Apple Mac Pro is great for work

I'm a graphic designer, and this is the best computer I've ever worked on. It's fast, the Mac interface is fantastic, it's pretty, and it's reliable. I've never had it crash or give me problems. Right now I have two screens hooked up to it, and it's a fantastic way to work. Everything's at my fingertips instead of being buried (which is the problem I have with PCs in the rare moments that I use a family member's computer.) In my previous iMac, the disc drive used to eat discs from time to time, just refusing to open up and release the disc. But this Mac Pro has never done that, and I'm grateful. Mac has lots of great applications, particularly for designers, and with the new App store it's even handier. I would encourage anyone to make the switch to a Mac, no matter which type of laptop or desktop they get. It takes a little getting used to, but having used both systems, I'm very much in favor of Apple computers. The downside is the expense, which I was lucky enough to avoid, since this is a work computer.

Easy To Upgrade!

5

When I was first looking into getting a Mac computer after using them at work and school for years, I was torn between getting a MacPro and an iMac.  While both have their pros and cons, the pro user in me decided to get a MacPro.  One of the reasons I absolutely love the MacPro is how easy it is to upgrade.  I distinctly remember in early the early 2000's trying to add a second hard drive to my IBM Aptiva and completely failed at it.  With the MacPro it's so easy to upgrade the Hard Drive or RAM that I think anybody could do it.  I love having the peace of mind that Time Machine is always running in the background, where if I had an iMac I'd have to worry about another device being plugged in and making sure that it stays powered on. The RAM was just as easy.  I saved money by going to OWC and buying 4GB of additional RAM for a total of 6.  And I still have extra slots left over where if I want to keep putting more in I won't have the get rid of the old stuff.  I believe the iMac only had 4 slots for memory, which Style wise the MacPro looks pretty sweet too.  It's a bit bulky, but it's definitely doesn't feel like a toy.  Makes you feel like you are getting your moneys worth at least.  While it might not come with a built in cinema display like the iMac, I feel that the ability to upgrade over time gives this machine a lot longer life than an iMac would.

Apple Mac Pro

I was looking for a new mac because i sold my old one to a friend when i stumbled across this. At first i thought " Apple doesn't make Mid tower Mac pros do they?" This surprised me and i decided to pick one up for my self. other Macs i saw were all one piece, meaning that it was a LCD monitor with everything else inside: DVDs burner, processor, and power supply. I booted this baby up and it loaded quickly just like the other Macs I've used before. Some people might say that this isn't really a mac because of its bulky-ness but they're wrong. This IS a mac, just not a mac for those who travel and stuff. For someone like me who do video editing and movie creations, this was perfect for me. Besides being a perfect mid-tower, i could use any monitor i want, not the one that other macs have. Upgrading couldn't be easier. It was much more simple, in my opinion, then updating the os of a Windows based computer.

apple mac pro. expect more from it

The Apple Mac Pro is good. the one i have is 8 core model. it's running at pretty good speed and everything. however, i don't think the statement they used to make on their tv commercial is true, such as it won't crash and things like that. my mac pro freezes on me from time to time. specially when i switch from one screen to another, sometimes it just stopped responding with a spining rainbow. the playing music will pause and the only way to get out of that is by holding the power button to shut it down and restart it. i expect more from it since it's a 2k machine. and it's a unix base machine, it should not crash like a old windows pc. a bit disappointing on it.

Mac Pro is a rock solid work station

My Mac Pro is a toughly designed supercomputer workstation that stands up to the rigors of a power user who's doing graphic design, digital photography and high end digital editing for a living. The speed of the Mac Pro is impressive, but the real gem is its reliability. I've pushed this computer to the limits in terms of applications and processing power, and it never seems to crash. No bluescreens here!    The Mac Pro may be a higher priced computer than it's windows counterparts but it's value is seen in the fact that it's stability, immunity to virues and of course, Mac OS X operating system make the price difference a bit better. Factor in the mac will last twice as long as a comparable windows machine, and that AppleCare is there to back you up in case of a machine failure, and this machine is worth the sum of its parts. This is my eighth mac over the years (upgrading both laptop and tower every several years) and it's the best i've had thus far.

The Mac Pro lives up to its name.

The Mac Pro is a beastly computer with lots of computing power and expandability to make it last for years and years.  The machine I have is capable of running up to 16 Gb of memory and works perfectly well with the 4 Gb that came installed from the factory a few years ago.  Mine also has 1 Tb of hard disc storage on two hard drives.  The graphics, processing and just about everything else are fast and comparable to anything newer despite the machine being a few years old.  As far as a professional machine goes it has everything you might want: lots of processing power, a flexible platform that can be upgraded in the future, and reliability. The only downsides to this computer are the enormous size, expensive price tag, and lack of monitor and peripherals.  The tower is absolutely huge.  There is really no chance of discretely hiding it on a desk.  It also costs an arm and a leg, but doesn't come with anything that you need to actually start working out of the box.  The monitor, keyboard and other accessories must all be purchased separately.  All the extra bits on top of the expensive price tag can add up to be a big investment. At the end of the day the expensive price may be worth the cost because it is fast, reliable and flexible enough to make some small upgrades that will keep it up to date for years.

Apple Mac Pro - Quite the Work Horse

5

I have always been a big fan of Apple products. All the way from iPods to MacBooks to Desktop Pros. The Apple Mac Pro is quite a robust machine. I typically have 8-10 programs running constantly on my Mac. It never sputters and is super quick. It has only completely frozen on me a couple of times and that was because the server had problems and when that happens my computer goes into a tailspin. Start-up is super quick though so even the few time I've needed to restart, I was up and running in no time. There are plenty of connections on this machine but the one thing I wish it had that the old macs had is a port for a microphone. I ended up buying a usb audio interface to record vocals into my Mac. It works great but would have been nicer if it were straight plug-n-play. Oh well. Everything else about this work horse more than makes up for that. The operating system is very stable to unlike the old versions that would have the hardest time doing multiple taks. ¡Viva apple!
