solvseus says "Great as a gift" about Apple Mac Mini

I use a Mac Pro myself, running Windows XP occasionally with VM Ware from my Boot Camp partition. I like that I can add extra video cards (currently running 3 monitors, 2 plus TV-out to my plasma) and have a bunch of hard drives. But this made a nice gift for my Mom who had been struggling with Windows. XP got ok over time, but Vista was horrible. Windows 7 is a little better, but not much, and would have slowed her PC down even more. Already running at a crawl. Even without all the spyware and viruses. So I set her up with a Mac mini and she loves it. It's actually gotten even faster with OS X 10.6. All she does is check her e-mail, surf the web a little, write up documents sometimes, and play a few games like Snood and Bejeweled. You can actually go a little cheaper with a refurbished machine, my only real complaint that Macs can still be a little more expensive, especially if you don't need all the extra stuff, but it's not too bad. Love the compact size. Just added an extra hard drive...
...

StephKaye says "I LOVE my lunchbox-sized Mac!" about Apple Mac Mini

I LOVE my Mac mini! I got it after my last Dell bit the dust. It takes up so little room on my desk, which is a plus because I'm a teacher, and my desk is always covered with papers. Also, as a teacher, I got an educator discount from Apple.

One great thing about the Mac mini is that I did not have to buy new peripherals. I just plugged in my own keyboard, mouse and monitor left from the dead Dell. Macs are smart and play well with other manufacturers' accessories. I've got a backup drive and speakers hooked up, as well. The only drawback I've found so far is that there is no USB port on the front, so I have to plug my flash drive into the back.

If you haven't used a Mac before, no fear! They are pretty easy to get used to -- the biggest difference is that the X to close a program is on the opposite side of the screen! My Mac mini takes literally less than a minute to boot up, unlike my old PC.

If you like using your computer to listen to music or watch TV, you're in luck! My fiance...
...

Michelle504 says "You need a Mac Mini to run Flash 10." about Apple Mac Mini

My brother and I recently chipped in together to get a Mac Mini because of things going up to Flash 10. He bought the main computer and I paid for a separate screen with built-in speakers, the I-Work disk and the Apple Phone Modem since we're on dial-up. It doesn't come with a screen, keyboard or mouse in case you want to use what you already have. But because we couldn't connect it to a computer we already had, that's why we had to buy a separate screen and have help connecting it to the stand that came with it. The power button and all the connectors are in the back, but the light indicating the power is in front. That's one of the drawbacks - not having the light where you can see it. But in case you need something looked at or help with downloading something, the computer is easy to take to the store, since they have connectors there to work with. So despite the drawbacks, it's a relatively good value for the money, though a bit steep if your money's limited, though it's cheaper than...
...

pdot says "Great value in such a small package" about Apple Mac Mini

I recently purchased a Mac Mini after my Windows PC started having hardware problems. I had a PowerMac G4 (Sawtooth ed.) before, but by chance, I was Windows only for the past 4 years. It was a good experience with Windows, but since I felt OS X to provide a superior experience, I decided to go back to a Mac when I was ready for a new computer. I have the latest 2 GHz Core 2 Duo version and because I don't ever plan on playing any video games on it, it's perfect. My main purpose for buying this computer is a better user experience (i.e., safe and reliable platform for personal computing and a more intuitive interface).

The improvements to OS X (Leopard version) since I was on it (Tiger version) are great. The Dock has been greatly improved with things like the Stacks capability while the Windows Taskbar has been fairly stagnant. The only thing Microsoft has done to it is to make it bigger and easier to edit. Mail and iCal are also apps I miss greatly. Outlook just doesn't compare in...
...

I have newly become a Mac Addict! By no means am I an expert on Mac Mini or any Apple product but I do know what I like and and I can tell you that I like the Mac Mini and recommend it to anyone. I am a novice at using the Mac Mini but the learning curve I thought I would have from going from PC to Mac is much shorter and very entertaining.

Before owning a Mac, my son had convinced me that we should go Mac Mini and after purchasing, I was wondering now if I had made the right decision. Initially, I just sat back and stared at this tiny computer, wondering how something so small could do so much. I couldn't believe that this machine which was about 1/6th the size of my old PC could actually do what my old PC could do. Well, I was pleasantly surprised that that tiny computer, the Mac Mini could do what the old PC could do and then some.

I did some research on Apple products and the more I looked at the Mac Mini, the more impressed I became. I finally became more than impressed...
...

When my Dell laptop needed upgrading, I opted for a Mac Mini. I'm so glad I did. I have none of the virus problems seen in PC's, and the Tech Support has been outstanding. I purchased the Apple Care agreement with the computer and I did have to use it once. The optical drive needed replacing soon after it was purchased. I just took it to a Mac dealer, they replaced the part for free, and no further problem. The only thing I would change is the clumsy connector for the monitor. It's a connector connected to another connector. Every time I move the mini, the connection wiggles free. It's annoying.
...

I purchased this little guy about 4 years ago and he's still going strong. It works on a laptop hd which doesn't seem to affect it negatively. I used this comp to switch from a pc to mac. I was able to use my other peripherals, this is one of the few macs that doesn't come with it's own. The price was reasonable and the performance impressive. I run my adobe programs on it. I did have one hiccup where it died, but I think it might have been my own fault. You should have a backup system anyway. After that I chose to upgrade the hd myself, which was not easy. Geting into that machine is hard. I wouldn't advise it unless it was a last ditch effort before getting a new one. However I did get in, make the switch, and got everything running better than ever. If you're looking to save money, or want a transition machine, this one is great....

We got so tired of blue screens from our Dell! My husband was so tired of the waiting and not knowing whether or not to allow a download. We almost gave up on having a home computer. Too stressful and expensive replacing every 3-4 years. We love the Mini Mac. Just enough for our e-mailing, surfing, photos and documents.
