Apple Mac Mini —

I have newly become a Mac Addict!  By no means am I an expert on Mac Mini or any Apple product but I do know what I like and and I can tell you that I like the Mac Mini and recommend it to anyone.  I am a novice at using the Mac Mini but the learning curve I thought I would have from going from PC to Mac is much shorter and very entertaining.

Before owning a Mac, my son had convinced me that we should go Mac Mini and after purchasing, I was wondering now if I had made the right decision. Initially, I just sat back and stared at this tiny computer, wondering how something so small could do so much.  I couldn't believe that this machine which was about 1/6th the size of my old PC could actually do what my old PC could do.  Well, I was pleasantly surprised that that tiny computer, the Mac Mini could do what the old PC could do and then some.

I did some research on Apple products and the more I looked at the Mac Mini, the more impressed I became.  I finally became more than impressed and took the plunge and bought the Mac Mini computer.  Actually, my son and I each bought the Mac Mini at the same time.  We both switched from PC's to Mac and have never regretted the purchases.

I have owned computers for more than 30 years now, from the Tandy to now the Apple. Before owning the MAC, I used exclusively Windows based operating systems and Windows based programs.  I was convinced that this was the best thing since sliced wheat bread. Well, the Mac Mini has made me rethink everything I thought I knew about computers.  I actually considered myself very versed on computers and was comfortable assisting others. With the Mac Mini, I am relearning and am very happy with the knowledge I am gaining.

Once I purchased and began to use the Mac Mini, I was upset that I hadn't switched over earlier.  I suppose I looked at the cost of an Apple and compared it to the cost of a Personal Computer (PC) and always thought that the cost was too great.  After purchasing the Mac Mini, I found that the old saying, "You get what you pay for" is really true.  Actually, the It is very small and it just didn't seem or look real. I was also elated at the amount of space the Mac Mini didn't use.  I was able to utilize my computer desk for more than just the computer. I can now use my computer desk as an office desk as well as have the computer on it.  I have a large Lexmark  all-in-one on the desk and still have space.  I have my Time Machine Backup and a dock for my iPhone on the desk and still I have more space than I need.  By the way, we are not speaking of a very large desk.  I didn't have to purchase a keyboard, mouse nor monitor because my old ones (which were not very old) were compatible.

I am amazed at the speed of this machine.  When I power on, Safari loads in about two seconds.  This was the first time I was not able to turn my computer on and have time to multitask while it was loading.  Using Microsoft Windows Explorer was somewhat of a crap-shoot. Sometimes it loaded quickly and others, the time just dragged on and on.

The layout of the Mac's icons is also just wonderful.  Everything is in view at all times. The ability to go from one application to the another is unbelievable.  The tutorials and help sources are beyond belief.  As a new user of Mac, this is important to me.  After so many years of using Microsoft programs, using hot keys on the keyboard and just generally using the same software for years, it was and still is an adjustment using the Mac. The tutorials have been a tremendous help.

My Mac Mini doesn't heat up. I have had it on for a few days now and the top of it is not much warmer than the top of the computer desk.  That is a lot different from the old PC which could sometimes be used as a room heater.  I mean, that tower would heat up and when you got near it, you could feel the heat.  This could not have been good for the computer or my utility bill.

Why did I switch from PC to Mac?  Well, I just got frustrated on too many occasions.  Don't misunderstand me, PC's have a place in this world, just not in mine.  Microsoft became cumbersome.  The programs would freeze up, Internet Explorer just didn't seem to be able to keep up with the demands.  The Mac Mini on the other hand made live easier.  The Mac Mini came with useful software like iWorks, iPhoto and iLife. Upgrades are easily done from the Apple store.  The software is user friendly as soon as downloaded.  There are so many applications within a simple component.

The virus detection program that comes with the Mac Mini is powerful!  I love the way it blocks out potential threats and is on the job constantly.  The Spam detector is fantastic and makes my computer life simpler.

Finally, I am glad I switched over to the Mac Mini and have found it much easier than I thought it would be, more user friendly than I thought it would be and for the cost of the computer, much more economical than I thought it was or was lead to believe it was.

Owning the Mac Mini has helped to simplify other parts of my life.  I also own an iPhone and am excited that I can easily sync many uses between the two.

If you are looking to up grade your computer, chose the Mac Mini!  You will not regret it. In fact, you will thank me.
