The 3G S iPhone is extremely similar to other iPhones.

4 star rating

an easygoing, laid-back person, an internet junkie, not tech-savvy, child-free
Pros

3G is faster than Edge, voice controls, compatible with stereo Bluetooth, takes/edits video clips

Cons
adds even more expense to bill, not necessary if you have 3G

Apple - iPhone 3GS Cell Phone —

I've had the original Apple 8G iPhone for a year and a half.  An unfortunate soda incident meant that it didn't really work as a phone any longer, so I needed a new phone.  Enter the Apple 3G S 16G iPhone.

When I first received the new 3G S model, I was a bit disappointed because there really wasn't a huge difference between it and my original 8G iPhone with the new 3.0 software update.  In fact, I still am somewhat underwhelmed.  Yes, the 3G S is faster than the first iPhone, but aside from that, the camera's video capability, and the future capacity to send and receive pictures in text messages, there really isn't much difference between this new version and the older iPhones with the newest software update.  To add insult to injury, AT&T tacked another $20 or so onto our monthly bill because I upgraded to the 3G phone.  Not cool.

Don't get me wrong, for the past year and a half I've loved, loved, loved my iPhone and would never want to go back to my RAZR or previous phones like that.  I love being able to check email and the internet at just the touch of a button and I'm pretty dependent on my Facebook and Epicurious (recipes) applications.  I highly recommend this phone to those who are thinking about making the jump from a traditional phone to something more complex.  That being said, if my first generation 8G iPhone wasn't broken, I wouldn't have felt a burning need to upgrade to the Apple 3G S 16G iPhone.  I still had like 5 gigs available on the old phone and the new software gave me almost everything that this newest iPhone has.

My enV Touch has a 16 gig memory card and I wonder if I'll ever fill it up. I contemplated an iPone but that would mean a chance in carrier and I'm bound to Verizon for the next 7 million years.
