After resisting getting an iPod for quite a while, I finally purchased a yellow Nano Chromatic 8gb after a recent cash windfall. I LOVE IT. My husband has a 4gb 1st generation (I think) Nano, and we have a radio transmitter for the car. He listens to audiobooks all the time, and music when we ride together. Now, though, I have my OWN playlists, and get to listen to MY iPod when I'm driving or when we're together. I admit, it's a completely different experience. I've been having a blast rating my songs in iTunes and building smart playlists -- like my Soundtrack Faves list: 4-5 stars, genre=Soundtrack -- that sometimes surprise me with what's been added. The variety of songs on my Nano keeps it continually surprising, and I'm consistently hearing a lot more of my music than I did when I kept just a handful of CDs in the car. I keep it with me for things like grocery store trips, too, which are much more enjoyable with my own music than the piped-in muzak the store usually plays! I'll admit, though, after a few accidental song shuffles, I turned off the accelerometer shake-to-shuffle feature. I might turn it on for brief periods, but it's generally more trouble than it's worth.
