My husband and I got married in December 2007 and started looking for a new place. Since we needed more space than either one of us have in our current apartments we started hunting. We figured we would try one of the many free apartment locater services. We decided to try Apartment Guy On-line since they had benefits like $100.00 Cash Back if you use them to find a place. Needless to say, we Did Better On Our Own. Our "apartment guy" took some information like what we wanted to pay, what amenities we were looking for, what side of town we wanted to be on and gave us a list of apartments. While we waited on the "apartment guy" to call we picked up an issue of For Rent at the grocery store and started looking at what was available. Most of the information we got from the locater service was on properties that we had already looked at. We ended up calling the apartment guy to find out about complex promotions and monthly specials but found a place we liked without their help. Most of the calls we received were not about additional properties but being asked if we found a place and listed them as the referral so they could get paid and then pay us. The place we found was not even listed on their website.They may have been more beneficial to us if we weren't so proactive.
