AnySoldier.com —

I first learned about AnySoldier.com from JovialCougar's review.  I was intrigued by the concept of the site, and I checked it out for myself.  Well, I loved what I saw, and I have now become a contributor to this very worthy cause.

AnySoldier.com is a web site where soldiers from all branches of the military post their needs and wants on behalf of their units.  People can then read through these postings, request the soldier's address, and support the troops by sending them the items they request.  It's a really neat idea that allows you to support the troops directly.

The best way I have found to go about sending a package is to get a flat-rate Priority Mail box from the post office.  There are boxes specifically for sending to military addresses, and the postage will only cost you $11.95, which is a great deal.  Some post offices will have these available.  Otherwise, you can order them online from the USPS.  Either way, the boxes are free.  I then head for my local Dollar Tree, and for about $25, I can fill the box.  A completed customs form is required to send a package.  You can either fill one out online or at the post office.  Remember that the customs form requires you list to what's in the box, including item description, weight, and value, so don't seal the box without filling out a customs form or having that information written down.

AnySoldier.com has a lot information on how to support the troops.  The site gives details on the do's and dont's of sending packages, which I strongly suggest that anyone read before sending anything.  There are links to care packages you can buy and send, but I prefer the Dollar Tree method.  The site sells merchandise, and you can also make monetary donations to the site.  The money raised is used to support the troops.

The site makes a point of telling you that you should not expect to receive anything back from the soldiers you support, and you shouldn't.  I can tell you, though, that I received a thank you card back for both of the boxes I have sent.  It was a truly wonderful feeling to get those cards in the mail, and it has inspired me to support the site further.  It's amazing to know that you have made a difference to someone who is risking their life to help you and others.

Make a difference in a soldier's life today.  Support AnySoldier.com.  They certainly do enough for us.

I read the prior review and became part of the site. It's wonderful and fulfilling! A great way to connect with those who are without the simplest of things we have here.

I never thought about it that way, but you're absolutely right.

Thank you for the review and the recommendation.

It's great to hear you are enjoying AnySoldier. Whenever I hear some news from Iraq or Afghanistan I wonder if someone that I had made contact with was affected. It really brings the war home.

My husband spent two years in Iraq. I would routinely send boxes to others in the company that my husband told me either needed things or weren't getting any mail from home. anysoldier.com is great because you used to be able to send mail to APO addressed to "Any Soldier" but you can't anymore. I'm glad someone is helping them. Even if you don't get a thank you, trust me, I know they appreciate it. Thanks for helping them out!
