Anthony Bourdain No Reservations Review Summary

Fans of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations call it a "fun, smart, irreverent travel show" that is both "entertaining and addictive." Bourdain travels "all over the world to try new foods, meet the people, and learn their cultures" in this series for The Travel Channel. Reviewers appreciate that while "some shows of this type focus on sightseeing and eating at four star restaurants, Bourdain focuses on culture and restaurants where the locals eat." A few longtime fans of No Reservations have grown disappointed with the show as of late, feeling it is seeming "more and more like a drunkfest than a travel show,"  but the majority of reviewers seem to be as enchanted of the show as always, claiming "there is nothing better than being somewhere, someplace, and trying the local fare. Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations is "not just a tourist's travel guide, but a look into global living." For another different take on a travel show, watch CBS' reality series The Amazing Race.

My husband found Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel one day and we started to record it so it was not missed.

He travels all over the world to try new foods, meet the people and learn their cultures and trying out their local alcoholic beverages (some times a bit to much). ...

His show seems to be getting more and more like a drunkfest then a travel show.

I enjoyed watching in the past, but lately, his excessive partying has been getting to me.

I guess it is not where a Christian should have the channel set.

Blessings,

Donna

Some things were just meant to go together; peanut butter and jelly, Abbott and Costello, chicken wings and hot sauce, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jack and Coke....you get the idea.

A couple more things that I believe are meant to go together is traveling and food.

There is nothing better than being somewhere, someplace, and trying the local fare.  I especially love the type of places that tourists would shy away from.

There is a show on the Travel Channel; Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, and I am hooked.

Anthony Bourdain is a Chef from NYC, an author, television host and world traveler....

Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations is a highly addictive travel show for people that bore of your garden variety travel shows.  Where some shows focus on sight seeing and eating at four star restaurants, Bourdain focuses on culture and regular restaurants where the locals eat.  He turns every place he visits and every meal he eats into a glimpse into the real day to day lives of the local population.  It's not just a tourist's travel guide, but a look into global living.  Also, Bourdain's not your traditional host.  He's got the soul of a writer and of a rock and roll rebel.  His commentary... read full review »

I love Anthony Bourdain!! I started watching this show in January and I've been addicted ever since. I watch everyday and I own all his books. No Reservations is a different kind of travel show. Tony goes where other travel hosts do not go. He finds out what the locals do and does it, most of the time with a local. He doesn't just go where some travel book tells him to go. I've never wanted to travel in my whole life. After watching him I have a growing desire to travel abroad and try new things. Just wtaching him makes you want to travel. Does he make an occasionally off color remark. Yes he does... read full review »

I LOVE this show! I was hooked from the days when he was on teh Food Network. I was really hooked when I got Kitchen Confidential for Father's Day and I was unable to put the book down. The next day I had finished the book and went to my local library and checked out all his other books.

I like that he is real not like the other shows where the just love everything and nothing ever is wrong.

Anthony Bourdin's autobiography is brilliant. Here you really get to know this person and what he had to stand in his life so far! All the good and worse sides of mankind and the problems a person is able to have with himself!

But he found a way, he got through life!

And now he is one of the best known chefs on this planet and even runs his own TV show!

He really can be proud of himself!

Great show.  I especially like the narration which is informative, but witty.  I cannot believe how much he drinks and smokes.
