Anheuser-Busch Tequiza Review Summary

Those who want something similar to beer but different might enjoy Tequiza, a beer made with added ingredients for a unique taste. Unfortunately for Tequiza and the company that makes it, Anheuser- Busch, our reviewers don’t think much of this beer. It is easy to drink, but the words of praise end right there, followed by numerous criticisms like its lack of real beer taste, its high price, its odd combination of ingredients that include agave nectar and lime, and its unusual aroma. The comments, like “Tequila in Beer? Are You Kidding?” and “Bad Idea in a Malt Flavored Beverage” summarizes the negative feelings toward Tequiza very well. In short, reviewers feel that Tequiza is a Beer Product that everyone should avoid.

Oh. — — My. — — God. — — Who on *EARTH* would ever think that blending TEQUILA into beer would be a good idea?? Who IS that guy who dreamed up this nightmare in a bottle?? (And how can we get him cast out of the civilized world?) — — To describe this beer as "nasty" is a gross understatement (and I do mean "gross"). It's got all the harshness of cheap rotgut tequila and the total lack of bland nothingness of light industrial lagers. It's truly the "worst of both worlds". — — Try it for yourself....just don't say I didn't warn… read full review »

Anheuser- Busch is the world's largest and best- known brewery, featuring a large number of alcoholic malt- beverage products. A-B has decided to test the waters by venturing outside of its traditional malt- beverage comfort zone and now offers many different products. One of them is Tequiza, a fruit- flavored malt beverage introduced in 1999. — — Beer Commentary: — — Tequiza is an innovative product. It's the first ever American- made malt beverage that uses blue agave nectar as one of the ingredients. Along with this nectar, it combines light lager beer,… read full review »

Consumer Note: Tequiza is made with blue agave nectar and lime flavor — * Pale Straw colored.  Tall, bubbly head collapses quickly — * Lime aroma is most evident; background notes are reminiscent of tequila — * Mildly sweet foretaste (which is not reminiscent of beer) gives way to agave flavor and slight lime tanginess — * Finish is rather one-dimentional, bowing to non-beer flavors — * Body is thin and watery, mouthfeel is nil beyond the fact that it is highly carbonated — Synhopsis: — Despite my less-than-glowing tasting notes above,… read full review »

This was a bad idea from A-B that will keep being resurrected every summer. It's hard to capture the refreshing taste of tequila because tequila isn't actually all that refreshing by itself. Instead, A-B decided to market this product anyway, but without actually having it taste like tequila. The closest flavor it mimics is a strong lime flavor. — It's not beer, it's not tequila, and it's not a great tasting malted beverage. You can do a lot better than this one for $6.99 if you're looking for an alternative to beer. This is plenty drinkable, but why do it if you don't have to? —… read full review »
