We stayed at the Anchorage Inn, Charleston, SC for the first time recently after 29 years of trips to that city. We were very pleased with everything about the Inn, from the location (just steps from Waterfront Park and the Historic Market, and within easy walking distance to the historic district, restaurants, museums, shopping on King Street, and the aquarium), to the amenities (whirlpool tub, excellent continental breakfast, turn down service with chocolate candy, among other things),to the staff, and even the quaint feel of the Inn. Stepping in the front door was like stepping back in time, only with air conditioning and the creature comforts you expect in the year 2006. There was a whirlpool tub in the room we were given, which contributed greatly to rest and relaxation after a day of walking through the city. We stayed here in the middle of summer, and the room was a cool and comfortable place to come back to after being in the customary Charleston heat and humidity during the day. Without a doubt, we plan to stay at the Inn again.

Dining: Short Walk, Just park your car in the parking deck out behind the Inn and leave it there during your entire stay. There isn't anything - food, museums, parks, or shopping - that can't be walked to easily. Soak up the Southern charm and hospitality of this city on foot, don't miss out on any of it by spending time in the car.
