Anchor Hocking Expressions Deluxe 34 Piece Ovenware Set —

Let's face it, you may not be turned on by the thought of a set of even the fanciest bakeware just for you under the Tree on Christmas morning.  It is not the sort of thing which can be classified as "Just what you always wanted ... " but if the reality of your life involves a certain amount of baking, then Anchor Hocking 34 Piece Expressions Deluxe Ovenware Set may be just what you always needed.

As time has gone on, I've begun to steer away from frying things so my skillet gets occasional use.  My fancy set of Farberware pots and lids have weathered the storm well but about a year ago, my collection of bakeware had pretty much "hit the Skids" -- consisting mainly of old beat-up soldiers dangerously on the verge of fading away.  Unless I wanted to get down the fancy just-for-company white Corning ware, I was pretty much reduced to old foil pans which had once held commercially-prepared pies (including a really old one from "Poppin' Fresh" today known as Bakers Square!).  Memory has drawn a merciful curtain over whatever cataclysmic disaster destroyed the old baked-on and crusted-over Pyrex "fish pan" which I had used for years but anyway, I needed new bakeware so I poked around in the Overstock.com site.

There were many fine Pyrex and Corning sets available but this time I decided to take a chance on Anchor Hocking, a real departure for me and one of the smartest things I have ever done.  If you need new bakeware I heartily recommend this stuff which heats and cooks food beautifully.  The real miracle is the way it cleans up.  Because of kitchen space limitations (common to most of us I suspect) I have developed the bad habit over the years of removing food from a baking pan and then sticking the pan back in the oven to get it out of the way.  Even if the oven is turned off, there is sometimes enough heat to bake residue onto the pan, stuff which never really came off my Pyrex ware no matter how I scrubbed or even used S.O.S. pads on it.  With Anchor Hocking, even a blackened baked on crust is no problem -- I just pour a little boiling water in and within minutes I can easily wash the pan as clean and shiny as new.  I have well-used this bakeware for more than a year now and it looks brand new.

Anchor Hocking 34 Piece Expressions Deluxe Ovenware Set is oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe and is made in the U.S.A.  I think the regular list price of $129.99 may be more than a lot of people can afford for bakeware these days but there are good deals out there on Amazon, E-Bay and other sites for a marked down price of sometimes only $65.64 with free shipping.  This would be a wonderful shower or housewarming gift for someone setting up a new kitchen.  Each set includes a written five-year guaranty and Use and Care Booklet plus one each:

3 quart oblong casserole dish

2 quart round casserole dish

2 quart fluted glass lid

1.5 quart loaf dish

8 inch square baking pan

9.5 inch pie plate

set of eight 6-oz. dessert bowls and lids

Bake with Bob & Joyce famous recipe collection

Poster-sized Microwave Cooking Chart

6-piece measuring spoon and 4-piece spatula set

MY VIEWPOINT:

Just what you always wanted probably is a complete staff of kitchen servants to do all the cooking but second best to that (and a lot more economical) is Anchor Hocking Expressions Deluxe 34 Piece Ovenware Set.

I have seen Anchor Hocking at K-Mart and Wal-Mart and wondered about the durability and quality. Thanks for the review. Yes, I hate it when something gets permanently baked on to a really nice dish. ~Gigi

I suspect that the people on your gift list are a pretty lucky bunch! You seem like a very warm-hearted and generous caring person.

That's good because at the rate I use my Corning Ware, it's going to end up looking like new 30 years from now! It's stored in one of the cabinets up above the stove and it's just easier to use something else besides it is nice to have something fancy for company someday. Boy, I bet that Anchor Hocking stuff does go on and on, it looks like a real trouper! You have a nice evening, Cuz, and give my love to all!

Your Corning Wear is collectible, did you know that? I like that and my Anchor Hocking for microwaving vegetables and soups. I inherited some of my Anchor stuff. It's ancient but as good as gold.
