Ancestry.com  —

This is my favorite website to do my genealogy research.   I have been doing research for about 5 years now, but I have been on a gazillion websites to try to do research.   I am doing mine and my husband families and I have found a wealth of information on Ancestry.  You can find out all the areas you ancestors moved to thru the years, if they could read or write, it even tells you were they were born and where their parents were born. on the census records and that is just one of the documents you can find on here.    I can put a name in the search box and it will pull a person with that name.  The more things you can add before you start the search the better your outcome.   I used Ancestery when I first started my research and I ran into many dead ends.   I decided to take another look at it about 3 months ago and it has changed into a better than ever research site.   They have a family tree on the website that you add to as you find info.  Then while you are researching they are to.  If there is something in Ancestrys site that might help you they let you know then you can look at it and decide if it is your family.   My father never knew his father.  His mother never spoke of her family or his.   Dad grew up wondering why his dad left them.    I have searched for years for this family with no luck.  When I got on Ancestry this time I had added Dad's info and what little I knew of his dad.  Shortly after I saw that there was a match.  It had matched another research and me together and when I got in touch with her it was my family.   My father had passed away in the late 90's thinking his dad didnt care and I find out my grandmother took him and ran away.  No one ever knew what had happened to them.   I have found so much info on all mine and my husbands lines.   But I do have to say that I have lots of long tedious research hours invested.  And jujst remeber not everyone can trace their families this way.  Sometimes we don't leave much of a trail behind us.  So go into this with that thought in mind.

I definitely recommend this pay website for researchers.  It can be a little costly.  If I wasnt doing the research on here I would have to go to actual places to get some of these documents so to me it is worth it.  They have tried to make it easier to get by letting you get it monthly at $19.95 now instead of the lump Annual payment.   To me it is a worthwhile investment.

My mother is the genealogy queen in our family. She has found LOTS of information about her and my dad's ancestors. It is amazing what you can find with the age of technology. I'm sorry to hear about your father's passing. ~Krista Lynn

Isn't it amazing what we learn about ourselves? My Aunt did this for our family one year.

Sounds like a very informative site and I'm glad you were able to find a match for your dad's family, even if it was later than I'm sure you hoped. I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing away. My dad was killed in an automobile accident two years ago and today is his birthday. I'm working on a review of his favorite fishing spot now.
