My Top Amy's Gluten-Free Dinners

I used to eat frozen dinners for lunch all the time. When I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2001, I couldn't have them anymore because most of the entrees had gluten in it. I was doing my grocery shopping a couple of weeks ago and to my surprise I found several gluten free frozen dinners. They are made by Amy's Kitchen. The five dinners I have tried I've loved.

Amy's Kitchen is a family-operated business dedicated to producing nutritious, delicious frozen foods made with natural and organic ingredients. The story behind the company is printed on several of the products' packaging and is provided in detail on their website (http://www.amyskitchen.com). Rachel and Andy Berliner started their business in 1987, the year that their daughter Amy was born. Their mission was to create vegetarian meals that offered convenience to people who were too busy to cook from scratch.

The people at Amy's Kitchen have produced several products that cater to people with special dietary needs like me. Amy's Kitchen does not use GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in any of their products. Their food is either organic or made with organic ingredients. No meat, fish, poultry or eggs are ever used in any Amy's products.

Their full line of products includes burritos, enchiladas, pizza, a few bowls, pot pies, and whole meals unlike any other dinner on the market. Many of the more popular products are available at traditional supermarkets, but some can only be found at health food stores and markets.

These are my five favorite Amy's Gluten-Free Dinners. It comes in a recyclable cardboard package. The dinners are easy to prepare in the microwave, oven or toaster oven.

Amy's Brown Rice with Black-Eyed Peas and Veggies Bowl~
It has a combination of organic brown rice and black-eyed peas with organic broccoli and carrots in a tasty ginger sauce. I like the flavor the black-eyed peas' adds to the bowl. The overall taste is delicious. It has lots of veggies in the bowl. There is no added MSG and contains no preservatives. Amy's Brown Rice with Black-Eyed Peas and Veggies Bowl is Gluten Free, Corn Free, Dairy Free, Lactose Free, Tree Nut Free, and Kosher product.

This entrée contains one serving which has 290 calories, 11 grams of fat, one and half grams of saturated fat, zero grams of trans fat and cholesterol. There is also 580 mg of sodium, 38 grams of carbohydrates, eight grams of fiber, five grams of sugars, and 11 grams of protein.

Amy's Cheese Enchilada~
Two tortillas made from freshly ground organic corn. It is filled with a blend of cheeses, olives and peppers. The enchiladas are covered with a traditional Mexican sauce. These are tasty and have a yummy red sauce on top. It tastes as good as any I've ever eaten, even in the best Mexican restaurant. Amy's Cheese Enchilada is Gluten Free, Soy Free, Tree Nut Free, and Kosher product.

This entrée contains one serving which has 240 calories, 14 grams of fat, six grams of saturated fat, zero grams of trans fat, and 35 mg of cholesterol. There is also 440 mg of sodium, 18 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fiber, two grams of sugars, and 10 grams of protein.

Amy's Garden Vegetable Lasagna~
Tender rice noodles layered with creamy ricotta. It is blended with a mixture of organic vegetables. The lasagna is covered with a fresh tasting tomato sauce. This is perfect for one person. Most people like lasagna with hearty meat sauce, but the vegetable version will surprise you. It has a real good flavor. The rice noodles hold up well and taste great.
There is no added MSG and contains no preservatives. Amy's Garden Vegetable Lasagna is Gluten Free, Corn Free, Soy Free, Tree Nut Free, and Kosher product.

This entrée contains one serving which has 290 calories, nine grams of fat, four grams of saturated fat, zero grams of trans fat, and 20 mg of cholesterol. There is also 720 mg of sodium, 41 grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fiber, seven grams of sugars, and 13 grams of protein.

Amy's Rice Mac & Cheese~
Macaroni style organic rice noodles covered with a smooth cheese sauce. One thing I have really missed since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease is Mac & Cheese. This is so yummy! It has a nice homemade flavor and texture. The noodles are soft, but firm enough to hold their shape with no mushiness. This is perfect for one person. There is no added MSG and contains no preservatives. Amy's Rice Mac & Cheese is Gluten Free, Soy Free, Tree Nut Free, and Kosher product.

This entrée contains one serving which has 400 calories, 16 grams of fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, zero grams of trans fat, and 50 mg of cholesterol. There is also 590 mg of sodium, 47 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fiber, six grams of sugars, and 16 grams of protein.

Amy's Shepherd's Pie~
Organic vegetables in a nourishing broth blanketed with smooth mashed potatoes. This is very good and it reminds me of my mother's Shepherd's Pie minus the meat. There is no added MSG and contains no preservatives. Amy's Shepherd's Pie is Gluten Free, Corn Free, Dairy Free, Lactose Free, Tree Nut Free, and Kosher product.

This entrée contains one serving which has 160 calories, four grams of fat, zero grams of saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol. There is also 590 mg of sodium, 27 grams of carbohydrates, and five grams of fiber, sugars, and protein.

I would recommend these five Amy's Gluten-Free Dinners to anyone with Celiac Disease or intolerance to gluten. The price of these dinners are higher than non-gluten free dinners. I have been able to find some of them on sale and even had a coupon for a few. I give it 5 Stars!

I had just mentioned the other reviews because I thought you might find other gluten-free options which you might not know about yet. I'm so glad this is working out for you, you deserve something delicious to eat which is good for you. Take care and good luck finding more Amy's dinners. Come to think of it, they ARE hard to find in supermarkets even around here!

I've seen the other Amy's reviews on here. The grocery stores in my area just started carrying them. I'm so glad they started selling Amy's dinners. I keep my freeze stocked. My area is not serviced by Peapod. I wish we were. Georgia seems to be the last place to get any service or product. Thanks for reading and sending me a comment, Anna.

Great and comprehensive review. I'm sorry that you only discovered these great dishes a couple weeks ago as there many reviews of them on this site. I'm not sure if you live in an area serviced by Peapod but Peapod carries a fine selection of Amy's Foods.

Nice list! I like Amy's dinners because they taste good and are healthy even though I don't have a gluten allergy. This will be very helpful for those with Celiac Disease!

Thanks for this info. I have access to Food Lion near my office and I go to Publix to get my sweet tea and I'm always at Wal-Mart. I will definitely try to get my hands on the Shepherd's Pie.

Have a great Sunday! Hugs, Gigi

I've been buying Amy's dinners at Food Lion, Kroger, and Publix. Our Super Walmart sells these dinners, but they don't have a good variety of them. I hope you can find the Shepherd's Pie because it is really good. All of Amy's dinners are meatless, which I like because I'm a vegetarian. Thanks for reading and sending me a comment.

I would probably like the shepherd's pie. I ate at an Irish Pub the other day while in Spartanburg and I remembered how good their shepherd's pie is but I can't have it anymore since it has beef in it. Is Amy's a product found in most grocery stores? I tend to go to Wal-Mart, Bi-Lo and Food Lion.
