During my week in California, I pulled out all the stops and ate a lot of wonderful things in some great restaurants. I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy myself ... but one of the first things I did after getting home and parking my luggage was to try another dish from Amy's Kitchen -- namely, Amy's Broccoli & Cheese in a Pocket Sandwich. While this will never take the place of a Grilled Cheese and Fries at Top's Grill in Pasadena, it was still delicious in its own way and probably (sigh!) better for me!
This "pocket" sandwich is very similar to Amy's Vegetable Pot Pie in a Pocket Sandwich with the added punch of cheddar cheese. As usual, most ingredients are organic and include: wheat and whole wheat four, lowfat milk, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, filtered water, cheddar cheese, safflower oil, sweet rice flour, Grade AA butter, onions, sea salt, mustard powder, spices, and paprika.
STATS:
The contents of one package of (or one sandwich) is a single serving which contains 270 calories with 90 calories from fat. There are ten grams total fat, four grams saturated fat, zero trans fat, 15 mg. cholesterol, 560 mg. sodium, 37 grams total carbs, three grams dietary fiber, four grams sugars, and eight grams protein. Vitamins and minerals also make a good showing -- 45% (D.V.) Vitamin A, 20% Vitamin C, 20% Calcium and 10% Iron.
TASTE TIP:
This was a great after-travel snack, topped off with some fresh black cherries smuggled home from the Golden Gate state in my tote bag.
