The Verdict:  The Buggs will definitely stay at the Amway Grand again the next time we're in the Grand Rapids area. — Just the Facts:  Over the long holiday weekend my husband and I decided to drive over to Grand Rapids, Michigan which is about a 2-hour drive from our home near Detroit.  We wanted to visit the Gerald R. I came to the Amway Grand for a business conference, and though I did some research online before I arrived, I was well surprised. I was offered either room in the Pantlind or tower, and since I wanted to try out the Victorian style of life, we opted for the Pantlind. It was cozy, but didn't offer a small bar-fridge--which I somewhat expect of hotels nowadays. Apparently, those aren't offered unless you're on a concierge level. We found the staff at this hotel to be very helpful, friendly, and professional. The location is great for taking advantage of much of what downtown Grand Rapids has to offer (restuarants, bars, activities, etc). We loved the historic feel of the Amway, and the rates are a good value. We would expect to pay 2 or 3 times as much to stay in a comparable hotel in other cities. The Amway Grand Plaza is a luxurious hotel! The rooms were very comfortable and pretty. It is a great place to stay with all of the fun nightlife Grand Rapids has to offer.
