I believe this is a case of nothing more than paying for the name of the product because the effective of the straightening ability is very poor. The plates do not close close enough to be effective for straightening. Unless you are supposed to straighten big chuncks at the same time, Which I also tried to no avail because the straightener wouldn't provide enoughheat all the way through to straighten effectively when used that way either. You'd be better off getting a more functional product and you'd probably pay less for it too. Effectiveness Plates are too spaced to sustain heat or straightening ability.
