I got a Staffie as a 2 month old puppy.  These dogs are highly underated and have earned an unneccessary reputation as a 'bad or dangerous dog'.  I have never met a more affectionate and loving pooch.  Typical puppy drama of chewing on things that shouldn't be but very repsonsive to training and rewards for good behavior.  Learned very quickly to go to the door for potty and picked up many tricks very eaily, sit, lay down, crawl forward, spin backwards, her favorite was keeping the treat on her nose until given the command to 'ok get it!".  I taught her with both verbal commands and hand signals, she was eager to please.  I have never seen a dog smile until a staffie!  Every day I was greated with a big smile and the tail wagging so hard, her whole body shook back and forth.  Easily trained to not sleep on the bed (I need some space!).  Started crate training when leaving for work but was quickly able to trust her to be out of the crate and roaming the house alone.  A great barker at the doorbell and friendly towards kids and other dogs (lots of socialization as a puppy helped I'm sure!).  She loved to pull on the leash, that was the only habbit hard to break.   Great in the car and out in public.  I would deff. get another staffie if I was ever in a position to own a dog again!  I loved my pit.  They are so lovable and affectionate and do not deserve their 'bad rap'.

Barkley is a "wiggle butt"

All of mine love kids too. I called my little pit a "wiggle worm" because of the spaztic wiggling that happens whenever I come home. They are so damn smart and loyal!

I have an AmStaff too and I think the grin and big, long tongue smile is a trait. It's also really funny when they wag their tails so hard their butt wiggles and it looks like they will fall over. Haha. How about a picture of your cutie. Bully breeds are just great with kids. We got our dog at two years old and he absolutely adores kids.
