American Museum of Natural History Review Summary

No trip to New York City is complete without visiting the American Museum of Natural History. Reviewers love this museum for countless reasons, among them the reasonable admission price, excellent educational exhibits, dozens of galleries, and very large size. Reviewers advise everyone to make a visit and they make comments like: “Have Children? You’ll Want to Go to the Natural History Museum” and “Bigger Really is Better”. Because there is so much to see, examine, and learn from, the American Museum of Natural History is too large to complete a visit in a single day, and this could frustrate some tourists who try to take in too much in a few hours. So, give yourself plenty of time and enjoy a full day or longer at this great museum. Recently, on a trip to the New York metro area, my wife and I wanted to plan a day in the city that the whole family would enjoy.

Often when I'm in New York alone I'll call one of my older daughters and we'll spend the day touring the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  I love those moments when we share our love and thoughts about some of the world's finest pieces of art.

But on this trip my 11 year-old daughter was going to be the center of attention and we felt that this wouldn't yet be her thing.

What to do?

It's hard to go wrong spending a day (at least) roaming the American Museum of Natural History. ...

If you haven't already read Jo's review on this museum, go do so...I agree wholeheartedly with just about everything she said about the American Museum of Natural History, though I'm just totally gung-ho about the place.

I can't emphasize enough that you really need to allow some serious time to explore this wonderful museum. It is a HUGE place that a curious kid could easily totally immerse themselves in for at least a couple days. The dinosaur exhibits are amazing and the fossil collection is simply unbelievably expansive. What my kids liked best about exploring the fossil halls was that the...

The American Museum of Natural History was our last destinations during our stay in New York City recently. Most will think this is a must see Museum. I agree however my husband loved the Museum; I liked it. If you have children it is certainly a must do.

The museum is too large to see in a day. You might want to plan out what you want to see before you go. There are special exhibits which will cost you extra.

The Museum is located at 79th Street and Central Park West. We went by public transportation which left us off essentially inside the Museum. The main entrance to the Rose Center for Earth...
