American Idol- Season 7 Review Summary

Many reviewers still consider American Idol to be the "best reality show to ever hit the airwaves!" Fox's number one talent show crowns a new winner every year and after seven seasons, some reviewers find it to be "coming of age" with its years, yet others feel it's a "past favorite that is becoming boring." This notion is backed up by the news that a fourth judge was hired to join Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell for the upcoming eighth season of American Idol and that executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is leaving to concentrate on other projects and So You Think You Can Dance. After churning out new singing stars such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Daughtry, Fox obviously wants to keep it number one in the ratings. This season ended in a bang with a finale of the two Davids, as it became "predictable, but still worth watching," yet many reviewers still find "American Idol is the only show you can't miss."

OMG! did you see who got kicked off Idol!  But, did you see who was left?  I am routing for Archuleta, Archuleta, Archuleta ya'll!  I love to hear that little boy sang!

I love American Idol, and can't wait to see who wins.  I look forward to Idol beginning each and every year.

I am pretty sure...

We are avid reality tv show fans.  In the beginning, we would not miss American Idol for anything.  Unfortunately in our opinion, it has spiraled downward.  So much so that when utilizing our DVR - and having only 2 shows that we can tape at a time - American Idol is left out.

We loved (and still do)...

Year after year, American Idol is at the top of the Nielson ratings, but it certainly wasn't always that way. We've just come to expect it. Several years ago, in 2002, before reality TV was even a known programming genre, American Idol debuted, as a summer replacement series, and it seemed to steadily build up steam. Like most reality TV at that time, it didn't sound like it would hold that much  merit to look for the next superstar by having an on-air contest. Didn't we already have something like that ... called Star Search? But this was different, way different.

Back then in 2002, the on-air...

American Idol Season Seven was the best season yet.  I have been a fan since Justin & Kelly.  I watch every episode.  The last couple of seasons had gotten a bit stale.  The judges and producers did the right thing this season in picking Cook out of the crowd and talking him into auditioning!  Can you just imagine?  He was there to support his brother, Andrew.  He never had any intention to audition.  I just want to find that producer that found him and kiss them. ;)   My husband and I always watch Idol on Tivo so that we can pause and rewind and discuss as we go.  I vividly remember... read full review »

American Idol is the best reality show ever. The show has put out some great singers. Kelly Clarkson is an awesome, , awesome singer who has staying power and Carrie Underwood is one heck of a country singer who has staying power as well. Daughtry, though he didn't win, is one of the best rock singers this past year. Jordin Sparks has had a couple great hits. Looking forward to hearing more from her.

There were some misses though: taylor hicks, Rubin Studdard and Fantasia all who had albums come out and were dropped by their labels. None had number one hits.

The three judges are great. Randy-who...

I think, in my opinion, that this was the best season by far. I don't know how they are going to top it next year. I am so glad that David Cook won. He is by far, the most talented American Idol yet. Although David Archuleta has an Angelic voice, he lacks the personality of a star performer. He just seem like he would be boring to watch. I would just rather listen to him on the radio. David Cook on the other hand knows how to get a crowd going. He has the charisma of a seasoned performer, and he will probably write most of his own songs.

American Idol is still one of my favorite rwality shows, though it could use some new material. I am not speaking of the talent, but of the judges instead. I don't know about the rest of you but I think the Paula & Simon thing is not like they try to protray it to be! I think they really do like each other and may have a crush going on! Now wouldn't that be a story for the rag mags!

I am really bummed that Carly was voted off. I heard an interview with Nigel Hawthorne and he said he thought maybe it had something to do with her singing "Jesus Christ Superstar" and the mainstream public taking offense.
If this is true, I believe that it really stinks. I am a Christian and I was not offended by the song. It is from a musical that has been around since the seventies.
This woman was one of the top 3 talents in the competition. The comments from the judges after the vote showed that they were stumped. I say this because the comments were generally lame and Randy, Paula and Simon...

I think the reason why the ratings for this show, even though it's still #1 on FOX, is that this season is predictable.  The contestants have talent to begin with and, in the time given, stepping it up isn't showing that much of a difference week to week (except for a few performances).   I think Jason just got overwhelmed and tired and Syesha overperformed for the premise of the show.  I predicted the battle of the two Davids back when there were 12 contestants.   Which one will be the IDOL?  David A has a younger fan base and they may dial more often than David C's fans.   As for the... read full review »

I love the show american idol and watch it every year, i can usually predict who will be there in the end and love simons honest opinion. I think he is harder on the ones he thinks is great, because he knows they can do better and  wants to push them to do so. I hate that carly got kicked off last week and there usually is a shocker every year. But somebody has to go. I think the two davids will be there till the end. they are both so amazing!

I still believe there are very tallented people on this show, but season after season its all the same and its getting to be very boring. I enjoy the first few weeks where they show all the goofy people with horrible voices and the last few shows where it gets all dramatic and they pick a winner. Other than that its just over done now. This show needs some major changes if its going to stay around for another season.

This year has so many great singers you just want to vote for them all! I like the new part where they can now play piano, guitar, etc.Even the people who don't win can get a contract! And how many people would never be noticed, if it wasn't for American Idol? Still think Paula needs to not love everyone and give abit more advice.
