I have been a parent for many years..You might say..I have raised 2 families..My oldest daughter is now in her 20's..my youngest is 10..I have been buying American GIrl dolls..and..products for many years..My oldest had Samantha..the first American Girl doll to come out..She loved that doll..and..played with her for years..Little did I know back then..what a huge fan of the dolls and products our family would become..My youngest daughter was given the Samantha doll as a gift from our oldest..when she turned 6..she loved the doll..and..took her everywhere..After many years of play..this doll is still in like new condition..So..when our now 10 year old wanted a new American GIrl for the holidays last year..I didn't hesitate..We looked through the catalog carefully..and..chose the doll she thought would be the best for her...SHe couldn't decide between best friends..Ruthie and Kit..so..Santa tightened his belt..and..brought her both...SHe was thrilled..now she has 3 dolls..and..she can't get enough play time with them..It is so good..in this day and age of electronic..and..kids who grow up too fast..to see an old fashion toy..that doesn't have bells and whistles..please a child so much..Santa also brought her a trunk..for several outfits..THe outfits are so cute..and..so well made..they are able to be played with..without fear of ripping or tearing..
The historical dolls come with a book..so the child can learn what girls her age..in history did during their days..and..lives..this doll is very educational..plus..it creates in the child a sense of old fashioned role play and imagination..something video games..and..TV seem to be lacking these days..I have even been caught playing with these adorable dolls..
WHen ordering the dolls..I found customer service to be knowledgable and extremely personable..when one of the dolls had a problem with her eye after a few months..they replaced her..no questions asked..THis company runs business the way we would like to seem more companies run business..THe only con I can think of with American Girls is the cost..They are a bit pricey..my daughter would love to have more of the historical dolls..but..they are a doll we have to plan ahead for..at over $100 dollars a doll..we can't choose lightly..But..we do think our next purchase will be Julie..we both love the 70's..My daughter loves my tales of growing up in California..just like Julie...
