I got my first Amex Card (basic Green) when I was in college. Yes, that was a long time ago! Anyway, over the years I acquired Gold (to replace Green), then Platinum, Platinum Optima and Blue. In all, I was a member for 29 years - longer than their current Chairman.
Over those years, I used the cards for everything from groceries and gas to airline tickets, hotels, car rentals and entertainment. My Platinum was always paid on time. As for Optima and Blue, I often paid more than the minimum but I did carry a balance. And they made a handsome interest off those balances.
