Be very wary of this card. Hidden fees and the card expires and they keep your money. When you call customer service they are very rude.

We were sent a $1,000 Amx Gift Card from Delta for staying off an overbooked flight and waiting until the next day to fly home. Our cards came in the mail and we kept track of all of spending. I saved $362.00 to use in March when family was coming to town. I hate to use this as a "crutch", but it is a fact and relevant. In March family came. We stayed at the Stratosphere. It was raining and chilly and we were going back to the hotel after a nice dinner, only a few blocks away at the SLS. We were robbed/mugged by two men. I was pushed out of my wheelchair and it was knocked over. They stole our purses, and more. I called my bank and credit cards, etc, including Amx Gift Card. I did not have the Gift Card full number written down, only the last 4 digits and all the purchases. They told me without the 15 digits i cannot redeem the remaining balance of $362.00...Unless, i have the number the number on the package in which the card was sent, or the Delta confirm. code. I threw away the package, so i contacted delta. They gave me three numbers proving the Gift Card was purchased by them and sent to me. Amx said that was not enough info. They asked for proof of address, confirm. of the gift card sent beyond just the number..So I sent them the email of the card being sent from delta, the arrival date, my water bill, copy of all the transaction directly from their site, and letters from delta. Amx then said they would still not redeem the gift card. Then yet another manager said she would, and i resent. Her email said, oh they can't do it. I am disappointed and spent many hours on this to have me jump through hoops and then tell me no. To top it off, they did see I had a remaining balance, and would still not give me a replacement card. The whole thing has been frustrating and dishonest. I will never purchase an Amx gift card, and i told family and others not to either after this ordeal, because of the way I was treated and promised false information. Done w Amx

This card decreases in value every month until it disappears. My daughter wassaving her giftcards every year so she could buy a big gift. When she went to use her Amex Card it had zero balance. i called the compant and was told too bad. I think this company is stealing money from children. Never give a Amex zgift card it expires and the fees eat up the gift. Unbelievable and they have terrible customer service.

I order several AMEX gift cards a year. One of my favorite features was the ability to add the name of the gift recipient to the front of the card. Now, this is no longer possible. Instead the "personalization" is limited to adding a specific message to the card e.g. Happy Birthday etc, selected from a drop down menu. To make matters worse, there is surprisingly no option to leave this "personalization" blank. So, you are forced to add a salutation or message to the card that you don't want. p.s. I called AMEX Customer Service and spoke to a very nice lady to see if I was mistaken and perhaps there was a way to delete the unwanted message. Sadly she told me that other customers had enquired also, and there was no way to do so. What was surprising is that she told me that there was no internal system through which she could provide feedback to AMEX management on customer comments/concerns of this nature.

Lost a gift card and have tried calling to get a replacement card. Wasn't able to speak with anyone who could help. Phone keep you on hold then cut off. What a joke!! Amex you are the only ones that can't answer simple questions.

I have had American Express for 10 years and the rewards program is awesome. I used my points for a bathroom shelf and it was exactly as pictured and arrived very quickly. Also, I have never had a dispute with them and when I asked for a credit increase they responded very fast!
