American Express is not a very good company to have a credit card with. I had a card with them and I got into some financial difficulty and called them and told them. They put me in a financial hardship program, where I was to pay at least $100 a month for a year. I made two payments, one of $100 and one of $189, and three days after the $189 payment, they put the account into collections. I had kept my side of the agreement but they didn't. They just like to ruin your credit report, and I would like to say that everyone should STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS as best as possible.
Not to mention, that when they do put it into collections, they do not accept any kind of payment offers you make. They expect you to pay more than is within your budget monthly, or they expect you to pay for the whole amount up front. I have talked to dozens of agents and told them how much I could pay and they never accept it. That means it never gets paid and then you end up being sued because they are unwilling to resolve the debt.
