So what happened to customer service???

My comments are in reference to an incident that happened 2 years ago. My sister and I were unfortunate enough to be caught in Cancun during the worse hurricane of the decade. We realized that there were major porblems, like the airport closed because of damages, but the "friendly" people at AA (calling the toll free number) could have cared less about our situation. It took 6 days of constant calling to finally be told to be at a school the next moning and wait in line to "see if they had room" for us. We got there at 3 am and stood in the streets and hot sun til 1pm before we reached the agents. We did make the final flight, and the fight crew were wonderful, considereing they had been doing this flight all day! When we reached Dallas, it was horrible. We arrived at 10:30 pm and for the 300 + people on the plane (none who had connecting fights) there were 3 agents to assist us. One of them left after about half an hour, saying her shift was up! We finally left the airport for a hotel without getting a connecting flight to NC (at 2:45 am). When we got to the airport early (6:30 am)the next morning, the agent wanted to know why we had not made our connecting flight. When we explained what had happened the night before, she just rolled her eyes and said she would SEE what she could do! Needless to say, we have never used AA again nor do we plan to! Their agents really could use a course in "customer relations"!!!!!
