American Airlines Screws Customers Royally!

    charges for ONE checked bag, Poor Service, cut-backs in leg room, No free snacks...not even peanuts, Rude employees, Price way too expensive

American Airlines announced today that they will begin charging passengers to check EVEN ONE SINGLE BAG!

Outrageous?

You bet!!!

An unacceptable plummet in service in an industry already plagued by discontent? No doubt.

I don't care how many cities they serve (a lot), how reliable their service may be (it's not), or how comfortable their seats are (they aren't). When it comes to the backs of camels, at some point, customers have to say, "Enough!!!"

That last straw should come well before an airline charges to bring *ONE* suitcase. After all, travel is all about going places. Usually for more than one night. A few changes of clothes and maybe a book or two are not unreasonable things to be expected to bring along. Yet, by charging for NECESSARY and largely UNAVOIDABLE services that are part and parcel of the flying experience, American is just flipping the bird to its customers.

PLEASE people....you *DO* have a choice when picking airlines. Quit picking airlines that SUCK. Northwest SUCKS. And now American is telling the world that they SUCK too.

Things will never get better if bad airlines like these are rewarded with unnecessary luxuries like paying customers. Just say "no" to bad service. Just say "no" to American Airlines.

This review is full of hyperbole. It is also outdated. Just about every airline now charges for a single checked bag. In fact, I noticed that you wrote a favorable review of Continental. Well, they now charge the exact same fee for a first checked bag as American ($15). Care to revise your review of Continental?

isn't the security shock enough when traveling? now we have to be shocked at the ticket counter too? so far Cont. is the only one I have been happy with. Even with their sucky seats.
