I bought the Ameda Purely Yours pump prior to being discharged from the hospital at the recommendation of the lactation consultant I was working with there. She recommended the breast pump because I would be returning to work shortly, and because my baby was having a hard time learning to latch on and she recommended I attempt to feed from one breast and pump the other one each feeding to establish my milk supply. It worked, and we finally got the whole thing figured out, plus I have a great milk supply AND a freezer full in preparation for my return to work. My sister in law had told me I only needed a hand pump, so unfortunately I bought one and washed it prior to going to the hospital. I did try it out as she said it was all I needed, and let me tell you, I never would stay pumping if I had to hand pump! The Ameda Purely Yours is so much easier, and combined with a Hands Free bra, the effort really is removed from pumping all together! Worth every cent!
