Great back up pump

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

I received this little manual pump in my "kit" when I rented an Ameda hospital grade pump. Luckily I was able to keep it when I returned the pump.

I now have a different double electric pump but I always keep this for back ups. I am a working mom and exclusive pumper, so it's not always convenient to use this all the time, so I need the double electric especially at work. I always have this one ready to go in my bag in case of unforseen problems, like the motor going out, if I forget parts or if I'm in a place where I can't plug in but need some relief.

It's simple to put together, clean and sterilize, and use. You just place on the breast and squeeze with your hand! You can control the suction and frequency. Obviously, with any manual pump, your hand will get tired. I don't think this one is any more tiring than others though.

All in all, I would recommend this pump if you use a manual pump or regularly, or to keep as a back up for electric pumps. Sometimes, it's nearly saved my life when I thought I would have to go a whole work day with no relief!

This is the best breast pump out there!

By

from Woonsocket, RI

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

I received the ameda breast pump at the hospital Where I was staying after I had my daughter.  It is an electric hospital grade breast pump.  I love how it has the double pump so you can pump out of each breast at the same time.  It is great for first time moms because it is so easy to use.

When my daughter was born she needed to be in the NICU for five days because during the birth she aspirated meconium.  Because of this she couldn't nurse at the breast so then next best option was a breast pump.  I have used hand pumps before but they weren't electric, I would definitely recommend this pump because your hands don't get tired and like I said before you can pump both breasts at the same time.  It is great option and many insurances will cover the cost to rent it.  I liked it because it enabled me to still breastfeed my daughter even though she was taking bottles while in the NICU.  Breastmilk is the best thing out there for your baby and this pump makes life so much easier for any mom.

The Ameda One Hand Breast Pump is a must have for new moms.

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

Before giving birth to my first child, I purchased a manual breast pump - NOT an Ameda. It had a lot of different parts. I never did get it put together correctly so that I got any suction.  I gave up using it. When thyroid-induced milk supply issues arose, I first borrowed an electric pump then purchased my own double electric pump.  I always wished I had a hand pump that I could toss in my purse for a few hours out here and there.

When I was pregnant with baby #2, a friend gave me her Ameda One Hand Breast Pump that she had gotten free from her hospital and had never used.  I was so excited!  In just a few moments, I had the pump assembled.

I love this hand pump so much more than my expensive electric pump. I can take it anywhere. I am able to express more milk with it than with the electric pump. It is so much easier to get set up and pump in the few spare moments I have with two little ones. I can nurse on one side and easily pump on the other.  I don't have to find an outlet or find batteries. I can choose large or small bottles depending on how much I will be able to pump (in addition to a feeding or instead of a feeding).

The only negative is that I sometimes pinch my palm as I squeeze the pump.

I will say that I am just an occasional pumper. If I needed to pump full time or pump while at work, I would definitely use a double electric pump and have this One Hand Breast Pump as my backup pump.

The Ameda hand pump is all you need!

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

Before I gave birth to my first son all I had heard from other moms about breast pumps was how horrible they were to use--especially hand pumps. Yet, when I took a breastfeeding class at the hospital where I was to give birth the lactation consultant raved about the Ameda hand pump. I was definitely curious. How good could this little hand pump really be?

I planned to stay home with my newborn so didn't really have the need to buy or even rent an expensive pump, however I did want the option to give my son an occassional bottle of breast milk so my husband and I could enjoy a night out. I took the advice of the aforementioned lactation consultant and requested a pump kit (to use the pump in my hospital room) while at the hospital. The kit not only included all the parts necessary to use the hospital's pump, but the attachment necessary to create the one-hand pump.

This pump truly was amazing! Once let down occured it only took a few "squeeze and hold" patterns to pump 2-3 ounces of milk. After using this pump as needed for several months I acquired a power Medela pump. I actually preferred the hand pump. It was more gentle and twice as effective in half the time.

This is the pump to change life!

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

I like this Ameda One Hand Manual Breast Pump because it is easy to use, compact, and light weight.  I like it because it is easy to use, you are the one in control with this pump you can adjust the suction with just how hard you squeeze the handle.  No more guessing at the right number!  It is compact it fits easily into the diaper bag.  It is super light weight, and you can pump into most standard size bottles! The Ameda One Hand Manual Breast Pump also fits easily into most steam sterilizers! There aren't very many parts so you don't have to worry about losing pieces and The parts are easily replaced if you do lose them! Also the parts to this manual pump fit into the electrical version! I have had three children all breast fed and this pump was a life saver! This Ameda One Hand Manual Breast Pump is the most affordable and convenient pump I have ever used!  I would recommend this pump!

Very practical and effective.

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

When my first born was born, he ended up in the NICU for the first week of his life.  He was fighting for his life with an infection and had no strength to nurse, so I had to pump.  I had always planned to breastfeed, but this was not the way I hoped to begin.  I was nervous and clumsy and had no idea what I was doing.  The Ameda breast pump really helped me to gain confidence quickly as I had almost immediate success collecting enough breast milk to feed my son in my absence while he was in the NICU.  There was a bit of a learning curve as there always is with any breastfeeding system.  But I was able to maximize milk production with this pump and had as much success with it as I had with the hospital grade pump that was available outside the NICU for visiting mothers to use.  I got so good at using it that I used it regularly even after my son was released and learned to latch to me.

The parts were simple and easy to assemble and clean.  It is also quite portable.  Since it is manual it was less expensive than it's electric counterparts, which was important to me.  The parts are fairly easy to replace since Ameda is a pretty popular/easy-to-find brand.

The only problem that I have with this pump is that it was a bit squeaky.  This is not a problem unless you are trying to pump discreetly in a bathroom where every sound echoes.

The best breast pump today!

By

from Baytown, TX

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

As a first time mom, I was sure I wanted to breastfeed my baby at all times. I was skeptical about being able to handle my lifestyle and always breast feed my son. I didn't want to give him formula but then it would be difficult to run my household around his schedule. I looked into breast pumps and finding the right one can be difficult and discouraging. Most of my friends quit breast feeding because they had to work and it was to difficult for them to find a pump that would allow them to pump enough milk.

The Almeda breast pump was easy to use and carry anywhere. Its both battery operated and electric which is amazing! I can be on the road and if my boobs started to fill up all I had to do was pull out my pump because its small and easy to use! It helps me pump fast and with no hassle at all. At home it's also the same just plug it up pump away and continue my day hassle free and most important relieved to have enough milk stored away!

My sister-in-law loved it as-well, once she saw how easy it was to use, she always says if she would have had one like mine she would have continued to breast feed my niece. I will continue to breast feed my son until about a year (GOD-WILLING) or maybe longer since this breast pump is so easy to use.

It's fine if you just want to pump an ounce or two but no more.

By

Comments about Ameda One Hand Breast Pump:

I received the Ameda One Handed Breast Pump as a baby shower gift.  I used the pump one week after I started nursing and when my milk came in.  It was easy to assemble.  The instructions were clear.  I did not have any problems getting the pump to form a tight suction over my breasts.  Once the pump cup was on and the lever to pump the milk was pushed, it was very easy to work while holding it in place.  I didn't have any pain with this pump.  The problems I found with this product is I couldn't get enough milk out and it took forever to pump.  It was good for about an ounce or two.  It's like it wasn't powerful enough.  I switched between both breasts and it ended up getting the same amount even months later when I was producing tons of milk for my baby.  I used the pump to help with let-down because at first I had too much of a heavy flow for my new born.  This pump is great for small jobs and for helping with the pain associated with engourgement.  It travels well and is easy to clean and store.  However, this can not be your main pump.
