I was skeptical about using a sleep aid as I had heard that one of the side effects was a sluggish feeling the next day. My doctor suggested I try Ambien as I was having difficulty sleeping as a result of my Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. I began using it occassionally as I did not want to become dependent. However, I would never kow for sure when I would need it--as you are supposed to allow at leat 7 - 8 hours of sleep time in order for it to be most effective. If you can't sleep at least that amount of time, it doesn't help to take it at midnight if you have to be up by 5:00 am! So, then I began taking it every night--I have gone off of it for a couple days at a time and have found no ill effects (i.e., still able to sleep even when I don't take it). I would recommend Ambien to anyone and everyone who is experiencing any type of sleeping problems. I do not have a dry mouth or any other type of adverse reactions. I think it is a great prescription and has my full recommendation!
