Amazon.com —

I had known about Amazon for quite some time, but was really reluctant to order online from anybody. Last Christmas our daughter and her family (consisting of 7) were coming up for the holidays and their mini van was full. I gave them small presents while they were here, but decided to have the bigger packages delivered to her Georgia home.
I received her Christmas list in late October-early November and began shopping. The kids wanted scooters and Walmart had the best price, ordered them online and shipped. Some of the items were hard to find and I had to go with whoever had them. But, when I started shopping amazon.com I was amazed by the volume of merchandise they have. They have everything for about every room in the house and then some.
Amazon allows me to split orders and send to different addresses. They also offer gift wrapping (for a fee of course), and will include a note free of charge to tell why the present was sent. If you can't decide on a gift you can send an e-certificate to be used to later for what ever the recipient would like.
After all this, my brilliant son-in-law told me he does not pay shipping and handling from Amazon. When I questioned as to how he managed that, he shared with me about Amazon Prime. When you subscribe to Amazon Prime for a fee of I think it was $79 per year, all of you shipping and handling are free for 2-day service. They do offer over-night for a small charge. In addition to this I noticed that some of my orders did not add up. Some of the items had a discount on top of no charge shipping. I'm impressed. Since I have ordered a lot of items from them this year, I figure I have saved for more than $100 by ordering from them.
Now, don't get me wrong. The only items you get the free shipping on by subscribing are the "Prime" items. There are a lot of stores listed under the Amazon name, including some major department stores and when you order from them, they do charge for shipping.
This year I have ordered kitchenware, games, toys, electronics, refills for the Braun shaver, stroller, car seat, bedding, baby monitors, books and toothbrush replacements (for which I received a $5 off mail-in rebate).
When I go looking to buy something big, I like to shop around. Many times I find it for less on Amazon. When I find it on Amazon Prime, right away I know that I will save on shipping, but I do a sample order to see if there are any discounts. If not, I leave the order sit there for later and look around town checking prices. If that was the best price I order. If not, I delete each item.
Amazon has a button you can setup your account information for 1-click shopping. My husband tried to surprise me by ordering a gift for my birthday (just so you know-my husband is not a computer person). He did surprise me though. When I checked my email next morning I had one from Amazon about the order that had been placed. I knew I didn't order anything so I opened it up and found out what it was. I almost canceled the order, but thought, maybe I should ask him before I did anything. Good thing I did. Then he told me about using the 1-click shopping. Now for Christmas I won't be able to open any Amazon emails about orders.
I'm happy with amazon.com, and happier when I see the plain brown boxes with the smiley on the side.

I just ordered an expensive juicer and so I did the 1 month free amazon prime so I could get it here in two days - free. Then today I told family members to go to amazone and send me their lists - hopefully i can get them all ordered in the free month time!
Maybe I should order it as I spend hundreds there every year but I usually do the free over $25 shipping that gets here in a weeks time.
Oh now I just don't know what to do! LOL

That was a good review. It took me awhile to get into online shopping, but I love it now.

I have big Amazon love because of their free shipping. You're right that it's limited to certain items, but they have so much inventory I usually qualify for free shipping. I'm already planning for the upcoming holidays!

As you saw, I so agree with you. I've never had any problems with Amazon. Jo
