I trust Amazon with my credit card info, and I trust them to deliver good products at a reasonable price and usually on time.No problems have ever happened with my credit card info, and they have handled returns and complaints fairly. They even pay the shipping for you to return things.
Over the past 10 years, I have bought all sorts of things from Amazon, from food and household items to books and music. They deliver in a timely manner, and everything has arrived in good condition.
I always wait for sales and discount codes because the shipping can make things a little bit expensive, but for me it is worth it to have everything delivered to my door. I live on a mountain, at least ten miles from any brick-and-mortar stores, and the price of gas is outrageous.
The on-site search engine usually finds what I am looking for, and they even let you suggest key words for other people who are searching for the product that you are looking at. So far, I have submitted three key words, and Amazon accepted all of them.
Their customer service by e-mail can be slow, taking up to three days, but there is also a toll-free number that you can call to get help right away, if you have any problems.
They have lots of other stores within Amazon, so you can choose the seller with the best price on the item that you want. Sometimes you can even sell things that you bought thru Amazon, if you don't need them any more.
They have links to Omaha Steaks, which supplies the best beef you can imagine, as well as seafood, pork and poultry. I love the quality of Omaha Steaks, and I enjoy the discounts that I can get by purchasing them thru Amazon. They also have links to stores that sell gourmet food, flowers, gift baskets and all sorts of things. They even have toys, with a wide variety of educational and scientific toys that I have not been able to find in San Bernardino, California.
The only real problems that I have had were when I chose discounted shipping on big and heavy items, such as furniture. Amazon uses Eagle shipping, and they have had some problems with on-time delivery, as well as occasional failure to deliver at all. Since there was no contact info for Eagle shipping, I couldn't even find out what had happened to my computer desk that I ordered. Amazon is working on the problems with shipping large and heavy items, but for now it is best to choose a more costly shipping method, which will also get you your products faster.
The books are a great deal, especially if you live in Canada, where books have become hugely expensive. The music is also good.
The selection is wide, and most items are in stock. When an item is out of stock, they give you an estimate of when it will be available again.
