Alpha Hydrox White Basic Face Wash Review

I had been looking for an effective facial cleanser ever since I read a dermatological report stating that many popular cleansers contain ingredients that are gimmicky at best, and potentially irritating at worst.   Ingredients like peppermint, menthol, and salicylic acid are usually not found in a high enough concentration in cleansers to be effective.   According to the report, a better approach is to find an effective, soap-free cleanser that rinses off easily so that your skin is in optimal condition to apply moisturizers, serums, and other skin treatments.

Contrary to the product's name, Alpha Hydrox White contains absolutely no AHA ingredients.  There is no soap, salicylic acid, or fragrance in the formulation.  What you do get is a gentle, lathering cleanser that cleans thoroughly and rinses completely.  The first time I used the Face Wash I used a little warm water to work up a soft lather.  I was wearing makeup, and the cleanser did a great job washing off foundation, eye shadow, and lipstick without any tugging or pulling.  It got off most of the mascara, and I just swiped a cotton ball of makeup remover across my eyes to take care of the rest. 

After cleansing, my skin felt fresh and clean.  I didn't have the irritating tingle that harsher cleansers leave behind, but I also didn't have any feeling of residue.  My skin felt completely normal; not oily, not stripped, and not filmy.   I've noticed that my skin doesn't sting when I follow up with my toner and AHA night treatment.  And the best part is that I wake up with clear skin.
