Does nothing!

I would give this product a negative number if I could, it's horrible. I bought Almay Smart Shade Concealer in the light/medium shade when it was on sale at CVS. I'm so disappointed in this product. I have a little mole on my face that's not even very noticeable to begin with and it couldn't even cover it. It did nothing for my dark circles either. When I first applied Almay Smart Shade, it was white and it pretty much stayed that way. It doesn't blend well and it doesn't adjust to my skin color. Even though I only used a tiny bit it was very thick and it caked up. For the lack of coverage I don't get why it's so thick. It looks like a really cheap makeup when applied, it doesn't give a natural look. And my skin felt dried out after using it, probably because it couldn't breathe under it. I will not be using this makeup again. And I urge anyone wanting a good concealer to stay away from this product.

I'm not one to EVER write a review but couldn't help myself after trying Almay- smart shade concealer (light -medium). I have very sensitive skin to start with and its really difficult finding foundation or concealer that really blend correctly or dont make me break out. I have used some other Almay items and they have worked well so I decided to try the smart shade concealer and it is the BEST product I have ever used. It blends nice and even and really, I mean REALLY works well for my darkness under my eyes. I love this product and plan on trying the foundation next. Thanks "ALMAY" for making this great concealer...

Almay Smart Shade Concealer

I have had very good luck with this concealer. I really think it does the job on my under eye circles.  I love the way it absorbs into the skin and does not sit on top of the skin like stick concealers do. I find I only have to use a little bit of it and my problem areas are well concealed.  I also have the matching foundation and very  much like that too. This goes on smoothly and effortlessly. I have found that it covers my problem areas very naturally. It seems to stay on most of the day. The color is great and seems to really closely match my skin tone. It  is fun to watch the color change- I cannot deny that! Another thing, it does not smear around like the stick cover up can. to me, it just feels not so heavy and much more natural on my skin.  Pricewise, it is a little more than some other brands of concealers. I also do not think it lasts as long as a concealer stick. I do see it go on sale frequently at mass merchants and that is when I buy it. I like to try to get it on a buy one get one free sale .

Not a genius, but definitely 'smart'

This product claims to match your exact skin tone upon application. Although this concealer will not match tone perfectly, it will provide good coverage of dark, under-eye circles and blemishes. It can tend to get "cakey," so one should only use one layer and not wear over a thick moisturizer. One coat of this concealer is plenty and blends completely.

AlMay Smart Shade Concealer Could be Better

2

I do like the AlMay Smart Shade line of products but I have to say the Smart Shade Concealer comes up short of it's promises.  The good part is that it does brighten my eye area, but it does not do a very good job of concealing any flaws.  I used the light/pale shade which should match my skin tone, but the concealer does not seem to blend in with my skin tone.  It does seems to stay on top of your skin, hard to explain but it would blend better if it sort of absorbed a little better.  I have not noticed any flaking or dryness of the product, it is very creamy.  I will continue to use the rest of this tube of AlMay Smart Shade concealer and will contine my search fro a perfect blending concealer.  I am using it in the coners of my eyes and over my eyelids for a brightening effect not for what the product is intended.  It does have a SPF of 15 so that is a positive, but come on AlMay- improve this product to match your other Smart Shade products.

Almay : The Ideal Shade

1

**ALMAY SMART SHADE CONCEALER:** This product was shown in a commercial on TV. LIke others, I was tempted to buy it, and so I did. I'm here to talk to you all about this concealer. First of all, I did not like this product at all. The concealer claims it can transform into your ideal shade, but don't be misled that it can read your skin tone and fit right in like a puzzle; it's not that smart. If it really were an "ideal shade", they wouldn't need multiple colours. It also says on the box that it is SPF 15 to block the sun's harmful rays, so I guess that's good. The product is whitish-yellow when it comes out of the little miniature tube with tiny black dots mixed into the semi- creamy mixture. LIke all concealers, you dab. And so I did onto a light acne scar. Let me tell you now, the light/medium shade did not work for my skin. I dabbed a small amount. Instead of the scar vanishing away, I ended up with my finger full of the make up. I wiped it on a towel, washed it  in water, yet it did not come off. I guess that means it's kind of waterproof. My acne scar was still the same, except that the area around was a bit lighter than my skin tone. I left it on for 5 minutes, and when I checked the mirror, it was all cakey and you could see the lines in my skin.  I was opting for the all natural look, and instead,  I got the 'I'm wearing a whole pound of make up on my face' look. It IS quite noticeable that you're wearing makeup. Even if you use less than a pea sized amount, you CAN still tell the difference between your regualr skin and the covered-up skin.  THe good thing about this is that you can't feel a thing/ You know it's on, but you can't feel it. Sometimes I wear it on really really light belmishes and it works fine. If you wait for it to dry a bit, it's totally smudge proof. In other words, once you put it on, and it dries, there's no point in putting on more. The only way that you can redo it is taking it off. I find that plain, dry tissues work best or tissues smothered with a pea sized amount of creamy or kind of oily feeling things, like Vaseline (white petrolium jelly). It doesn't entirely come off like that but it takes off most of the cover up. Another thing is layering. When putting on make up, you get in the habit of layering it. Well, there actually is no point in doing this as it just messes it up. I tried putting on one layer of Almary Smart Shade Concealer and it was too light, so i put on 2 more layers. As a result, it just looked like one big messed up wad. You could see the  yellow lines where the concealer ended at and it was VERY cakey. It looked like I put tan coloured flour on my face. For the record, it was absolutely gross. I had to take it off and that was just a complete waste of time, effort, and concelaer. I'm sorry, but I need 900 words so this is going to be a looong review. Can you believe it's only been 573? Alright, now the packaging of the tube is kinda weird. Where you screw the cap on, it's one heck of a messy job. After a while, you find concealer everywhere there, even if, after every application, you clean the top off well. In my experience, I think it was... the third day.. and I took off the cap to find the inside all filled with cover up and I'm just thinking, "How the heck did this happen"/ But that's my experience and I can't say for the rest of you. One of the things I do like about this product is that once it dries it doesn't come off. In other words, if you rub, pick, scratch the concealed area, it will probably not get picked off. I have picked the concealed area before and nothing changed. Nothing was in my nails and my cover up was just the way I left it. I just hate the fact that you can't change it once you put it on. And as I have mentioned up there somewhere ^, you shouldn't layer it, well, I woldn't recommend it anyways. What else is there to say about htis product. Oh right. You know how some people have scabs on their face. Like, just light scabs that are hardly noticeable, but at the same time, it totally is? Yeah, i had tons of those and I really wanted to hide it. What did I do? I concealed it. The result: I hated it. It actually outlined the edges of my scab and made it more noticeable. I couldn't take it off with anything. Vaseline, lotions, plain tisssues.  I was so pissed off; it was not even funny. I had to pick the area off, and that was really bad. Thank goodness it didn't bleed. Can you swear on these review things? Oh well, I'm almost done. I need to mention a few more things. Almay Smart Shade Concealer can't really cover dark spots, just fairly light ones. I actually don't know if the foundations work, but one things sure, this product did NOT work for me. But everyone has different skin, so I don't know about you. Have you tried this concealer? And did it work for you?
